DO NOT RETAKE THIS BEFORE consulting your doctor. If you are getting as sick from it as you say then your doctor needs to be aware and only he can give you the correct advice.

I found that Chantix briefly made me queasy shortly after taking it. It was MUCH worse if I put anything in my mouth in the hour after taking it. (Even gum or sucking candy!) But some people just have a harder time with it - you should check with your doc or the Chantix hotline about actually vomiting. Willow, did you call your doctor and tell them that it was making you sick? I am on Chantix and never had a problem. But I had a good friend from this site that had used and it and she said to make sure you eat something before taking it and be sure to drink a lot of water with it. It worked well. I am about ready to stop. My doctor put me on for 16 weeks. You see I had a horrible time staying quit. I am now weaning myself off of it. Not sure if that is what one is suppose to do, but it seemed to work for others. This has been an easy quit for me so far, really nervous about stopping it, but others have and have remained stopped so I will to. Welcome, and before you quit this time get rid of all your smoking matials. Like ash trays, lighter and the smokes. It is easier when they are not around. Thank you for your input. I always took it after a full meal. Each day I got sicker until the 9th day my stomach completely rejected it. I am sure I can quit with it because I had no craving for a cig at all!! I lit a few, took a few puffs. That was the habit part. Armed with this knowledge puts me ahead for my next attempt to stop. And yes I will try the Chantix again. I am aiming for a new quit day of 8/20/07 Thanks again

Hi Willow, Are you taking Chantix on a empty stomach? You need to take it with food and you should be okay. I always took it after a meal and did okay with it. The only time I got sick was when I just took it with a swig of coffee. You can always cut them in half like others have done. Chantix is a great help good luck with it. I like John took it on an empty stomach with coffee and it made me deathly ill, then I started to have cereal and toast before taking the chantex and have not been sick since. Good luck and don't give up. it is well worth the inconvience to be a non smoker. Your not doing like what I have done in the past, take it on an empty stomach with a swig of coffee are you? Got to take it with food and water. If you have then could try like others and half the dosage. Chantix is no perfect solution, some have had issues with it. I personally didn't have a problem until my 5th week with it. Seems at that point it would start to get me queezy for about 5 minutes sometimes pretty bad. Thats when I decided to put up with cravings then the queezy feeling so came off the Chantix at week 10. Cravings came back a little and anxiety went way up  it did not take much to get me upset! This also happened with Sue, my wife. But then two weeks later everything subsides. If you can't handle the Chantix and your doing it right that's a shame, would be nice to get past at least the first week or two with it. My doctor recommends the laser treament option over Chantix or any NRT's. Might want to look into that as another alternative.
