Hi Red,
I used the keywords "problem-solving" and "rumination", if the link is withdrawn or fails:http://psychcentral.com/lib/are-you-confusing-rumination-with-problem-solving/.
It was specific to my struggle around my indecisiveness. There's nothing wrong with "wasting" time with our leisure activities, but I wasn't progressing as I wished to reach some goals.
Hi Hugs, I got a questions for you if you don't mind me asking. Was the handout helpful? If so maybe you could post what it said for us to read. I know I could use all the help I can get....Thanks in advance...Red :)....
Rumination: Playing the same thought over and over in my head drives me crazy. This is when I try to engage myself in a positive distraction of course if that is not possible because my mind just won't let the intrusive thoughts go. Then I to remember to use the 10 questions list that is provided in the sessions here on the site.... Hugs, thanks for bringing this topic up it helped to remind me about the tools on this site and the 10 question list. I need to start using it again.....
The word is taken from an act a cow does. the process of repeating an act till there is nothing left.
So I am assuming you mean replaying a thought over and over. Usually an unwanted one.
Rumination can be stopped by a technique called stacking. The technique is posted twice on here. It works and has a sound basis why it works. On top of that those that use it says it works. You should be able to find it with a search. If not I'll find it or post it again.
