Are we broken?

for 16 år siden 0 6 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Broken can mean tamed our spirit was broken we were tamed by something we went through and we have to have the courage to put the pieces back together and be brave. We don't have to stay broken if we are in deed broken.

Suzy: I agree that 'broken' is a poor choice of words. Perhaps your dr. meant that your brain is 'broken' in the way your arm can be broken. In the short term there may be a lot of pain and discomfort, but given time and the right treatment it will heal. Although I have never used the word broken to describe myself, I do think that the process I am going through with drugs and therapy are helping to heal me. The healing process seems optimistic to me - things may not be good right now, but if we treat ourselves right it will be better in the future. I am discouraged for you, but try not to let it get you down. You could tell your Dr. at your next appointment and maybe he/she could better explain themself in a more palatable way. Stay strong...things will get better.

One disturbing thing that my psychiatrist said, and that I think has damaged me, is that I am "broken". I think that has crushed, or dampened, my desire to live a full life. It's made me believe that I cannot. A full life is beyond me. Have you run into anything like that? Logically, this doesn't make sense. I am a whole person who happens to have an illness that makes life suck every so often. So? Who is perfect? But I have this thing with authority figures, and Dr's are authority figures, and am having a hard time dumping this comment as the hogwash my mind tells me it must be. Suzy
