things falling apart....

Well,  this week I tried to relax. I saw my therapist a few times and she thinks I am making progress. I have had lots of hot baths, did some colouring in and even did a painting the other day. Then I got an SMS from work reminding me to attend training on Monday. I spoke to my boss and he told me not to worry but I feel like I should be well enough to go. My medical doc booked me off next week just to give me a breather but he thinks I need to go back to work as soon as possible before I associate my depression with work. He reckons I should be fine and the Wellbutrin should be working by now (only been on it 2 weeks now and am still experiencing side effects like feeling dizzy and trembling). My doc thinks it is just my anxiety making me feel that way.....
I feel a bit upset now. I have only had 1 week off, am I really supposed to be all better by now? I feel I need more time, I don't feel strong enough to go back to work. I have only been feeling better because I am at home. I think I have made progress but still feel a bit fragile. I just don't want to go back to work and fall apart all over again and go back to square one. I need to be able to cope with work but I feel like I can'f force it. How long is acceptable to start feeling better? Am I supposed to be better by now or is it OK that I don't feel ready to face the working world yet? Any advice?

Sometimes when I can't concentrate I get a math sheet of paper and start drawing some abstract and geometric models. It helps me release the tension and focus.

Thanks for that- I love fairies so I got a fairy colouring book and some crayons. I guess childhood was just so much simpler than life is now, that's why colouring feels so great. I will definitely try the mandalas. So far my week has been OK, although I do feel like I need to do something productive and feel a bit guilty just relaxing but I have not had some real time for myself in that past year and a half since I started working. There is always something you have to do for someone else. I guess I am not used to pampering myself. I feel I am making a bit of progress in therapy but I am afraid that even if I feel better, that it will get worse again later on. I am still following this program and have heard that this is the most successful way to overcome depression and is the best for preventing reoccurance. Guess I just need to be patient....

I like to colour - I might add that to my list of activities.  I haven't done it in years and I have colors and a goofy coloring book (I know you will be surprised by that!)

Hi Rosie,   Hope you are doing better.   You have received excellent advice from members so far........ my favourite is Wildcat's idea about colouring mandalas! I think art and colour are a great way to release creative energies and ground yourself.     Faryal, Health Educator

Don't mention a hot bath!!! If I'm home with myboyfriend after 20 minutes he knocks and ask me if I'm ok.... if I'm home with mydogs... the same... after 20 minutes they scratch on the door 
If I'm alone everbody panics because I'm not answering the phone!!!! HEEELP!!!!
 
For relax I like also puzzle games. I know I should be an adult by now :)

if you have a printer ... there are several web sites that have free mandalas to print. These are usually geometric patterns to colour and are the most relaxing things!!!   you have to think at the same time as you are are playing with colour and form so they use up a lot for your brain capacity ... which forces you to develop the concentration and focus ... and the meditation ... and you end up with some thing quite pretty!

Thanks for all the great ideas! I will definitely have some long baths while my husband is at work. I read on one post that a colouring book is one way to have fun. I also have alot of movies I want to watch. I am seeing my psychologist on Monday and will report any progress throughout my week off.
I guess its easy to feel like you are the only person in the world that feels like this but forums like this really make you feel less alone. thanks everyone.....

Your not alone! Once I tried to run a bath while the kids were in bed (reading) and it was not relaxing at all..if I lock the door they will break it down or stand there and talk to me!  Note to self... have relaxing bath when they are completely sleeping!
 
About the husband asking where stuff is....right up my alley, hasn't changed the toilet roll ever and not sure he knows where the toilet paper is kept!  Really the house doesn't have secret compartments..I swear!

since you asked  ... with one bathroom in my house, two children, one husband who has lived here for only 12Years and knows where nothing is, and one cat ... I never get to use the bath tub in peace and quiet A.L.O.N.E.
 I swear. I draw the water and all four have to use the toilet (the litter box is in the toilet as well.)  Then my daughter wants to share the bubbles that smell nice.  My son wants to know when an I getting out... My huband wants me to find ....
 
 
So during your week off.  Every day Draw a hot bath with sented salt, lots of candles and think of my crazy bath room.
   and enjoy the peace
