Thanks Rose306, Faryal and Diva

I am not taking a multi-vitamin but rest assured I only forgot my meds (actually late on them) one day and until I figured out what the problem was, I was a wreck!!! After that everyone reminded me!  lol

We buried dad today.  I had some peace of mind about it, maybe it hasn't hit me yet.  I know I'll miss his every morning wake up call, cooking for him, visiting with him and talking about his pet goat and cat, sitting on the porch listening to the wind chimes and just all around being a mutual support system for each other!

Both preachers did a good job with the service.  My grandmother faired okay (his mother).  However, the most difficult part was seeing her grief!  My son helped me get her around and sat on one side of her and me on the other.  It's all we could do, feel so helpless, but she has a strong will and strong faith, I pray will see her through.  I know she hasn't been sleeping or eating well either, so I'll make sure she does.  In lieu of our normal family get together a friend has invited me and her to their thanksgiving dinner.  So we will go there for Thanksgiving and have my loving friend and her family.

I don't know if I am numb or just had an opportunity to have so many great conversations and feel at peace knowing that he is in a far better place than I and with my momma.  I'll let you know as I know grief has it's stages.  I am so very tired and it is 6:00 p.m. here!  I think I'll go to bed again.  It seems there is not enough sleep for the weary.

I am also afraid this may be the start of my going "back to bed", so I am trying to be careful!  I can't let that happen again.

Hi Goofy,

I completely agree with what Faryal and Rose had to say! Was just dropping in to see how you are doing. So how are you doing today?

It is very gracious of you to take this experience and draw something positive from it by allowing yourself to just accept your loved ones for who they are, and to forgive those who have offended or hurt you. This is not easy to do, but ultimately makes you a better and less bitter person for not carrying around all the negativity with you. After all, life is too short.

THANK YOU FARYAL - THIS IS GOOD ADVICE FOR EVERYONE......

Good Morning Goofy,

My most heartfelt condolences for your loss to you and your family. Your father is in a better place and as you said, you have many lovely memories to draw from which hopefully bring you some comfort in this difficult time.

It is no surprise that your body is so run down and exhausted with everything going on. It is important that you take care of yourself by getting enough sleep and all the right nutrients especially in this period of emotional stress. Sleep is required for the healing and regeneration of tissues and cells and to give your brain a break as well. Are you at least taking a multivitamin? A B Complex to help you regulate your stress levels is also a good idea.

Thanks so much for your support and sympathy.  It means so much that you all from this forum support me at this time as well as others.

I got up this a.m. with the Meniere's Disease kicking in also.  It's an inner ear that causes dizziness. I can't drive today.  I called the doctor as I have not had this bad of a dizzy spell in 2 years or so.  I've had others with a broken finger and a sprain here and there.  She told me I can now get the dizzy med OTC.  My sister-in-law went to get it for me and it helped so that I could walk and stand up straight.  I am like a drunk.  I hope it does not linger until tomorrow but I am prepared for it as well.

I think all of you have some great advice for the bronchitis type thingy I have.  I didn't eat so well today as I slept most of the day and the dizziness is nauseating (ewwww).  That is all I want to do when I am this dizzy.  The doc said that she thought the exhaustion definitely precipated this along with the grief.  They say you can't make up for lost sleep but have the last two nights and I am dizzy and sleepy right now.  Of course, part of that is the side effects of the meds.

Ah well, I am trying to take care of myself.  I did lose about 10 lbs over the last two weeks!  I wouldn't recommend this as a diet plan.  I do think tomorrow will be more emotionally trying.  My grandmother wants Precious Memories played  - what a tear jerker.  My neice is signing a song - "Who Am I?" by Casting Crows and my Uncle wants Dear Lord Take My Hand.  Music makes me anxious and these being tear jerkers I am afraid I'll be too emotional (wailing).

I thought about dad dying today and realized that he and I had the last two years to get close, for me to accept who he was and his behaviors though I didn't like them.  I also came to realize that he and I had some great conversations this past two weeks and looking through pics to put in the slide show, how we must have meant alot to him as there were so many pics to choose from with us in them.

You know all the frustrations with my brother don't seem so important to me anymore.  I guess I have to accept him for who he is as well as his behaviors (arrogant and obnoxious and a know-it-all).  I have decided to forgive him for telling me because I am depressed I don't think straight and don't know as much.  (argh).  For telling the hospice nurse dad didn't take a bath but once a week - how would he know he only saw him monthly, I was there 3-4 times per week and talked to him everyday since momma died.  There are few others I am working on forgiving him for.  Acceptance, Patience with his behaviors and tolerance - might not necessarily be in that order all the time with who he is.

Thanks again for the expression of support and obviously anonymous cyber love.

Hey Goofy,

My sincerest condoleances to you and your family! I am sorry for your loss. As for being sick, I think it is perfectly normal that your immune system would be compromised by stress. I know I get sick a lot when under strain or stress or grief. Hang in there, it will get better. I can feel your frustration about all that needs done. It is normal. all of this is a very overwhelming experience! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Do try to rest, eat well and drink lots of fluids. Take care of yourself, you deserve it! As for catering thanksgiving that sounds like a wonderful solution! Hang in there, you can do this! And remember, this too shall pass!

goofy - you'll get through this! spray lysol on doorknobs, phones, remotes - that's a good tip i read long ago. drink lots of hot stuff, tea, cider - nyquil does wonders, too. hang in there, it (your grief and your cold) will get better with time, you know that.  i'm still impressed that you and your brother worked together......

all the body's resouces go to dealing with the stress and very little left for the immune system.
nutrition!  chicken soup - is a good source of proteinssss and vitaminesss and all are bio-available
sleep!  you need rest - you physical body need to recup!
MD-  be sure you have not caught a nasty virus while around all those sick people (dirty vents, dirty hands, and surfaces).     An ounce of prevention!!!

I have just gotten rid of a nasty throat thing that made my neck look like a post!
