Well I don't know what I will end up on, I only know I am not enjoying transitionong off the cymbalta. funny once you start feeling good again, it feels like you are getting cheated when it is not so good again. Hear rate still is not stabilized under 100, but blood pressure is better. Having some wild mood swings though. Not like before, you know "woe is me", more like " get out of my way or I'll kick your ass" and it doesn't seem to take much to set me off. My wife is giving me a wide berth and has made the comment a couple of times that she wishes I would get back on the meds. Oh well, nothing I can do until at least Monday.

Rose306,

There is lots of information on the internet regarding abilify. Like any antidepressant, there are side effects that may occur, therefore I would suggest asking your doctor or pharmacist whether or not they think the medication could be right for you.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better Rose

hey ralph, glad to hear that, when it doesn't work it doesn't work and when it does, wow! mods, what can you tell us about abilify - obviously it is working for mom and me......ralph, if if you can try lexapro do so  - it is the 2nd generation celexa and more selective, also this abilify - i guess it's an antipsychotic which scares the bejesus out of me but.......i do feel better!

Hi Ralph,

I'm sorry to hear Cymbalta is not for you side effect wise. I just had Abilify added to my Celexa and the Abilify works wonders, at least for my panic attacks and suicidal thinking.  I'm still sad about my situation but not overwhelmed like I was.  I have used Lexapro in the past and felt it worked well but my insurance no longer pays for this.

I hope you're able to get your meds straightened out soon.

Ralph2,  I hate to hear that the medication that seemed to work the best for the depression thus far, is not the best as far as overall health is concerned.  It is amazing how the mind/body works.  I, too am amazed at how medications have effected me mentally and subsequently physically and also the other way around.  I hope you can get something started so that you can maintain!  Thinking about you, keep us posted!

Well couldn't get ahold of my doctor, but talked to someone at the office and they are weening me off the cymbalta. Will have to talk to my doctor on monday to find out what is next. after doing some reading, I think the cymbalta was working to well and I had to much serotonin in my system. The symptoms seem to fit, especially the increased heart rate(it's 105 as we speak) and the flucuations in blood pressure. did get my answer on one thing though, it is the meds that are making the big difference. I can feel a change already and even my wife has noticed. It still amazes me how a chemical change can make such a difference in how we feel and react. Things that didn't bother me before now irritate me. Well going to have to find something. Can't go without it, but sure can't stay on the cymbalta.

Ralp2,

Glad to hear that you are calling your doctor today. I would also suggest calling a pharmacist (they are usually more familiar with medications and tend to have better knowledge regarding the side effects).
Members, has anyone taken this medication?
Hang in there Ralp2
