Lance,  I know that I have had some really bad experiences with some medications in the past.  I also know that I need them right now.  I think when you do get to see your pdoc you can discuss these concerns and side effects (sleep too hard, too much, etc.) and there may be something else you can take without so many side effects.  I know this trial and error to get medications right is not fun.  I wish it were a more exact science.  But it isn't.

Your statement "you forget how bad you where when your doing so good" is quite inspirational to me.  As I am constantly thinking (fearful) of going back to where I was - maybe one day I'll be doing so good, I won't remember how bad I was.

Hang in there Lance, I know the medication thing is a pain and frustration when you can't talk to your doctor.  You may be getting one step closer - don't shut the door on that prospect yet!  Don't let it get you down, just make sure you prepare your self for the next appt. with your dr. so you can ask all the questions you want answered.  (I make a list since my memory isn't so good anymore).

Well that was a huge mistake. You forget how bad you were when your doing so good. I havnt had the hopeless feelings, blues, fear, etc in quite a while. Im not doing anything I had planned today, I just feel like crap. I slept way in.

I dont lik the mirtazipine cause it make me sleep so hard, SSRI's gave me problems, so I guess I'm stuck with this. I was hoping I could just go without, but something isnt working right.

Too bad too, since my family doesnt believe in meds, since I had problems while on them in the past. I thought I was getting one step closer to going back to them.

Lance,
David really summed up what I was trying to say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".  In my opinion, I think you made the right choice until you can talk to your doctor further.

I hope that one day you will not need your medications - I have that hope too.  Hope keeps us moving forward, but the timing has to be right and under a doctors care - so hang in there until we reach that goal.

Hi Dave85,

Welcome to our site and thank you for sharing with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Hi I'm Dave and new here.
I've had a lot of experience with meds Lance, but I really can't give advice on the topic
because everyone responds differently to the same medication. Good advice though "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Thanks to you too Ashley, I know you cant do that, its just nice to have someone to share with to help make a choice. I think better safe than sorry was a good choice. I have only been taking it for about 3 months and I have been doing sooo good as you know. So I may have been pushing it, especially so new in my quit and a lot going on in my life and in my head.

Thanks Goofey, I felt the same way. It's a if it's not broke dont fix it. I could feel myself sliding in a bad direction. So I decided to wean back on. I have been doing so good lately, so it's not worth going backwards.

It may be too soon to do this, so hopefully one day in the near future I can try it again. One other thing I don't like is relying on meds to exist. I was told once to be glad they are there for me when I once questioned it, I just want to be right and to not have to use something to be that way.

Hopefully that will happen.

Lance,

When you call the clinic, will they talk to the dr. for you and get back with you on your question.  I know different places work differently.
I know it is a very tough call.  I know in the past, I've thought I didn't need my medications any more and I've quit and found myself in quit a dither (mess).   I also know I don't want to take medications for the rest of my life, but what I need to do and what I want to do in that regard may not be equal.

My advice is to err on the side of caution.  If the medication was working, then keep taking it until you can see your pdoc again.  I'm not a doctor but you said he said try to wean off it and see if there are any negative effects keep taking it.  It seems as if you may be describing some negative effects with the fear, irritablity, anxiety, etc.  Of course, I'm not a doctor.  I'm just trying to restate what I hear you've stated in your posts.  And understandably you seem to be a little panicy as a result of not being able to get answers from those in the position to know the answer (doctors).  So you have to weigh your options as the doctor did put the issue in your hand.  "difficulty waking up" or the other issues you described.  I don't think we can answer that question for you Lance.

Oh btw, I can totally relate to drinking coffee sometimes, when I know It is a big NO NO.  I treat myself to a cup of coffee about once a month.

I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds in trying to summize the things I hear lance saying vs. what he indicated the doctor said.  If I am mods, please let me know.
Welcome to this forum Lance, look forward to reading more posts and having you in our group forum.
