Lance, I can't express what the others said any better - great to hear from you and definitely inspirational. Thanks for keeping us posted. Keep on the same path!!!!
thanks so much for posting all of the positives in your life. I would think that it would easy to move on and not post when we are feeling better. So I want you to know that I appreciate your posts. Again, it gives hope and light. Rock on in your recovery!
Thank you so much! I hope you know that members here has as much as an impact on the site and the Health Educators as we do on you. We truely love hearing about how you are doing and even worry if we don't hear from you for awhile. So thank you for keeping in touch and typing even when it is difficult. You gave me a HUGE smile today!
The thing that helped a lot? That really got me back to a point where I could really start doing the "work" and get focused was the right medication. I was in a place that needed more than I could muster without it.
Once I found the right one and I was at a stable point, I began to improve daily and I keeps improving.
I am now at at point where I can do the things I need to do to continue moving forward. The cool part is I "enjoy" most everything I do now! I get up between 5 and 6 ( in the morning! ) run, eat and start my day. It is too cool.
I stay busy all the time, so I dont post much. I still type very slow, so I put it off. Is there a typing pill? LOL!
But, to whoever reads this.......These sites were a major help and influence to what I have been through. The Health Educators and members on the forums show so much support and compassion. In a time when you feel all alone, are in a terrible place in your life, you have friends here. They will help you during your struggle! Eventually you get back to a point where you realize it will be okay and things will get better and work out. But through this you have a family of people that understand.
Several of the sister sites were helpful in my recovery process. It has truly been a life changing experience here.
I think read, listen and post. Learn from others and have patience with yourself and your circumstances. We are all different and have varying degrees of our depression. It may take time to find what will work for you to get to a point where you can become proactive in getting better. I feel you need to reach a point where you can benefit from the CBT program offered here as well as engaging in other activity.
Some may be able to start right away with a program to move forward where others just are not at that point. It's not you're fault if you need help. I did! I reached out to all the resources I could find, worked with a doctor and took medications. I tried not to, but it didn't work. I crashed and burned and it took a long time to bounce back. Sadly I couldn't wish or will this away. I did all I could to get to a better place, so I could grow. I seemed like time stood still. Like it would never start getting better, and then one day I realized I was actually enjoying my existence! I still have days that are not so hot, but thats normal. I have a positive outlook on the future now. I WANT a future now!
So, I think it's important to not give up hope. Things will get better! Learn what works for you, proper nutrition, supplements, excercise, Church. Find POSITIVE things in life. My twitter and Facebook groups are ALL Super positive and educational things. I totally turned my life in to the ultimate self improvement. Everyday I try to be better. I think it helps. It took time, but I doing it.
Is it ever great to read this update from you! It brings me much joy to hear that you have recently been so active! Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know what you have been up to! Keep letting that list grow and grow! Please do try to check in when you can, we always love to hear from you! Congratulations on the weight loss and being smoke-free for 145 days! Amazing!
Looking back, what tips would you give to someone who has just started using the site and working the program?
WOW! Great to hear from you again. And it's wonderful to hear that you're doing so well. I do hope you'll continue to post here and let us know how and what you're doing. I've actually missed seeing your posts.
It's so good you've been active, losing weight (how in the world did you do it???), not smoking and you've found a new church. So many positives!!! I'm very proud of you, Lance. Things have definitely turned around for you.
