It's great to see this grumbles! How has the program been going for you since getting back into it? Any questions?

I am going to celebrate that I have not worked on the program ....

ok ok i know i should celebrate that but after reading some psots and the program I am realizing how important it is to stick with the program.  I know it will make a difference and my break from the program of not doing anything made me realize how important it is!

Hi Sally, ShyGuy and Diva,

Great insight from a setback.  Remember that challenges will occur and that anytime you learn from them it is a step forward.

Keep on sharing.

Mistake:

When finances got too bad, I reacted and went back to work before I was ready...

As you can imagine it did not go well. I ended up crashing and going into major crisis. But some good came out of it. It helped my mother and husband and therapist see just how far along I was and just how much help I needed. Now I have more help and more resources at my disposition.

Also, I learned that I can't just react to things. I have to look at the long term, the big picture. I need to respect myself and my limits so I may heal.

Biggest, indeed - dominating, mistake of my life - my life-sharing relationship with my partner (we've been together getting on for thirty years).  And the poor woman has no idea I feel this way.

So what's to celebrate about it?  I have three sons whom I love. And I've gained some retrospective wisdom : next time I'm 21, I'll remember to endure the loneliness rather than leap into the first relationship that comes along out of desperation. And next time I'm 25 and feel the chains growing heavier and thicker, I'll find the strength to sever them while it is still possible. And when I next find myself 49, I may be happy.

Ok, this thread is quickly becoming about my mistakes, but I have another one to list. Like I posted on the medication section, I missed my meds this morning. I felt awful all day because of it. I was beating myself up over it (how difficult is it to take a few pills in the morning?). But, I am sort of glad it happened now since I have decided to carry some of my medication in my purse from now on. I think a lot of good will come out of this. I can see myself being delayed in an emergency or traveling and needing forgotten or inaccessible meds. Now, I will be prepared in case I ever get separated from my meds at home.

Hello! I have a new mistake that I just learned about this morning that I thought I would share. I was over on the "Success Stories" section and while I was responding to Pete's amazing news about his son's musical performance, for some reason, I glanced down at what I thought was the "date" of the event, I saw the wrong date. I accidentally looked at the "joined" date thinking it was the "posting" date. LOL! For some reason, I thought the event had been posted a while ago and not just this week, so one of my comments made absolutely no sense!

I have learned that I need to learn to use this forum a bit better and to read things more carefully in the future before making a response. While it is a little embarrassing, there was no real harm done. I think I should keep this lesson in mind as I go back to school this fall: read all the instructions and words thoroughly on all my writing prompts and tests, and slow down and take my time so that I don't make silly, avoidable mistakes like that (those professors are not as forgiving as Pete!). I think that keeping this lesson in mind will help me avoid some trouble in the future.

I now know, the joined date is right above the avatar, and the message post date is right above the message. Kind of logically makes sense now.

Thanks Pete for pointing that out and not letting my "mistake" just slide by!  : )

Hi Goofy,

Thank you for sharing this with us. This is definitely a mistake worth celebrating, because you could do it, and you did! It sounds like you dealt with the challenges you had to face and even had the chance to spend time with your grand dog Lexi Jo! Good on ya! Celebrate your mistake and keep striving forward!

I was a little anxious going into this past weekend.  My son and his wife were going on vacation.  I'm keeping up with the granddog, babysitting the grandbaby and taking care of returning a lawnmower to someone my son didn't have time to return.  I was stressed up front about keeping my granddaughter for three days, my sleep issues, and my anxiety level, etc.  I was at wits end yesterday, running back and forth to feed the dog at my son's house 4 x a day (she's on a special diet, plus needs to go out).  Dragging my 3 1/2 year old grand baby with me in and out of the van.  Trying to keep her entertained.  My little dog, lol, tolerates her well.  My computer broke, my bf went out of town, felt like it was all falling apart.....but guess what.....I made it.  Grandbaby went to daycare this a.m. and the other grandmother has her until Friday and I get her again until her parents come home that night.  BTW, she is a great little girl.  Only had to get onto her once and that was to let the little dog have a break.

My mistake:  thinking I couldn't do it!!!!!

I rewarded myself and my grand dog (Lexi Jo) by calling my dogs sitter (Tinker Bell) and Tink went there for a couple of days and Lexi came here for a couple of days.  I get to enjoy her to myself now too. (She's 11 and is "granny's girl").
She's never been kenneled or at a dog sitter and she's part rott so she's not welcome everywhere, she's been through obedience school and has the "good canine citizen award".  :)  My grand dog!!!!

Hey Sally,

Definitely a great thread idea! I will have to think about a particular situation to post here!
