The smell......

I have a good friend who is a smoker, she has supported my quit all along. She and I do alot of stuff together, and alot of times we go off in her car because she loves to drive. I have been doing well with her smoking around me. Lately the smell is making me sick to my stomach. I have told her this alot the last few times we have went out together, but she keeps smoking like crazy anyway. I know we are in HER car, but I don't care I find it very RUDE! I really belive we are going to loose our friendship over this. I just can't handle the smell. I am also on Wellbutrin and I think that has a lot to do with me feeling sick when I smell it. I just feel if she can't be considerate enough not to smoke as much even, then she is not much of a friend anyway. Mrsrobinson...there is a great debate around here about second hand smoke. I cannot stand to be around it myself so I know what you mean. Purhaps you could drive instead. I think a lot of quitters distance themselves from smoking friends and acquaintances. The think I found strange after quitting was that some of the people I smoked with, I really didn't even like to be around. Kind of a birds of a feather thing. Please remember you are finding freedom from your smoking addiction and your friend has not yet found that path. Keep leading the way, purhaps she will follow. Congratulations on 25 days. You are doing Awesome!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 211 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,236 Amount Saved: $738.5 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 16 Mins: 1 Seconds: 7

Mrs. Protect your quit at all costs. Take some time away from your friend. If you have already let her know that this bugs you, then that should be it. Friends support one another and respect each other. Hang in there and stand your ground. This is your quit and you need to do what is necessary :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
