Shevie Congratulations I totally relate to the transformative, rebirthing process.
I've called it a fragmentation. I used to know exactly who I was, what I stood for, what I believed, and the things I liked or disliked. Now my personal definition has been stood on its ear by the aforementioned awakening.
I think so much more of you than simply enjoying the sound of typing. You are a force here and have shared so much of your knowledge and the clear way that you support your fellow quitters is a blessing for this site. Cheers, thanks for you and all that you give. I hope you continue to give here only out of my own sense of fear and greed, because I have so much valued your support, words and attitude. Again congratulations on a year you are an awesome quitter and a great person. Peace Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 95 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,916 Amount Saved: $712.5 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 14 Mins: 43 Seconds: 2

May you stay strong and continue to discover all the wonders of life after smoking. May personal growth allow you to express feelings and experience life in ways that this all incapacitating addiction has robbed all of us of. Congratulations, Shevie. I'd like to thank you for being there for me on my 'fetal position on the couch' days - your words were always helpful and encouraging to me. I can relate so much to your process and, you're right, why fix what isn't broken - great job with your quit and... keep fightin' the good fight - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 153 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,608 Amount Saved: $765 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 20 Mins: 42 Seconds: 7

Great Post Shevie. I am looking forward to this day. ---------------------------------------------------------------- It was sometime from mid-January to the end of February that I made the transition from quitter to ex-smoker. The distinction is that I no longer actively deal with not smoking, it just is. The thoughts (not to be confused with craves) changed from A cig would be nice, but it wont happen. to Last year I would have had a cig right now. to I just realized I didnt even think of smoking over that. There was no defined time when the change happened; I just realized one day that it had. Even the latter thoughts come less often now. -------------------------------------------------------------------- StuBow My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 447 Amount Saved: $68 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 48 Seconds: 53

Shevie Great Post Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Nicely said Shevie.
Ive lost interest in some things I used to feel strongly for because theyve been replaced by other things that used to not be important. I must say, though, I do not regret any of these changes. I miss and mourn for nothing lost, yet I rejoice in all those things found. The change isnt over yet, either.
I can really relate to the above statement. Congratulations again on your freedom and thank you for sharing your ramble with us. Great post Shevie. I too would love to see some research on age of addiction and breaking the addiction. I also think that spending one year smoke free does not overcome the addiction or reteach us coping mechanisms. I am not belittling the achievement, I'm being realistic. I know I've gone halfway crazy in this past year! My sister's friend said "the first year (of not smoking)was hell, the second was kinda crappy, and the third year I became kinda normal". All the years ahead of us will continue to redefine us. Congrats and thank you My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/6/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 351 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,329 Amount Saved: $2527.2 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 12 Mins: 55 Seconds: 16
