So first I have come up with this new (to me) at least theory that though our olfactory senses are shot the first few days of quitting, there is one thing we can smell better than anyone. That one thing is cigarette smoke. I challenge anyone to find a bloodhound that can pick out a smoker faster than I can right now. Seriously I can smell a smoker from ten feet away up downwind in my sleep, It makes me think did I used to stink that much? This is why I hope that it's just a quitting smoking thing that makes the smell so strong. Also as my sense of smell has started to get better it's kinda cool smelling things you haven't smelled in a long time. I smelled someone making pizza at work the other day and the smell was so different from my smokers sense of baking pizza I had no idea what it was, I thought it was chocolate cookies! Next ramble. I had a dream last night where I smoked. I bet a bunch of you have had one of those. Anyway it was actually a good thing because I've been losing focus on my reasons for quitting recently and all I could think of (in the dream) was I had just wasted a good 10 day quit, so the dream actually helped me keep my focus. next, this message confuses me: Since October 27, 2004 our members have had 2,867,515 smoke-free days, have not smoked 10,794,267 cigarettes and have saved $14,012,191.00 14,012,190$ divided by 10,794,267 cigarettes is $1.29 a cigarette. This can't be right, or does the money also come from somewhere else. Finally, someone once said "anything worth doing, is worth doing right" Someone else once said "if it's easy it's probably not worth doing" Not sure if I agree with the second one, but it sure could have been someone quitting smoking who said it. So to everyone out there thanks for reading my rants and keep up the good work. Hi Harrow, I may just be the bloodhound to challenge you. I was walking to work this morning and absolutely nobody was around me and I smelled smoke!!! Not imagined, this was real. It's freaky but yes, you can smell it a mile away. I think we are programmed as quitters that this will happen for a long time to come. I really cannot stand it. I used to feel horrible (and kinda mad) when someone walked by me outside and waved away my smoke like they were dying. Now that's what I feel like doing. Ah, clean air - it's wonderful. CONGRATS On your 11 DAYS, You're doing fabulous. :) CobenFan (Christine M) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 689 Amount Saved: $140 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 1 Seconds: 25

Harrow, Thanks for sharing! 11 days is really becoming on you :) You will notice your senses being heightened and this is a great tool. The stats you speak off are an overall view, remember each member has different stats and price ranges as well as how much they smoked. Keep up the fantastic work and keep us updated. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
