Nicotine,
It's well known around here that 30 days is a ROUGH time period in a quit... we call it the 30 day pit. It sounds like you got in the pit and instead of coming here for support BEFORE you lit up, you rationalized smoking the best way you knew how... speach.
I too have had some speach difficulties since quitting but I NEVER would have thought of giving up my quit for it. Mine was the opposite... I used to speak VERY fast and I also had a bunch of nervous habits and I always thought that if I didn't smoke, I would have more nervousness, but actually the opposite happened... I now speak slower and have WAAAAAAY fewer nervous habits... strange, huh? But anyway, I know what you're talking about.
I would suggest having a meeting with a speach pathologist who might be able to give you some tips on controlling your speach. We all CAN control our speach... it's just that we usualy don't think about it and habit takes over to where we just talk however we are acustomed to. However, you can train your brain to be acustomed to talking differently... I know this for a fact. So you might talk with someone to see what steps you can take (other than smoking) to correct this problem.
Whatever you do, smoking is NOT the answer. That is simply the junkie inside you screaming for a fix. Yes, the 30 day mark sucks... so take some time to be nice to yourself and reward yourself for 30 days WITHOUT using a cigarette as a reward!!! Smoking will only kill you.
Crave the Quit!
