    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Dear Cigarettes, I am sorry to have to tell you this, but I do not need you anymore. I have made the decision to quit smoking you. I will miss having you with me wherever I go. I will miss going to the porch in the summer time after a meal and having you. I will miss the stressful times that you pulled me through by clogging my lungs up, allowing me to feel numb. I will miss having you in the car with me, by the computer, while I do laundry and while watching television. I will miss you when I am at camp, swinging on the porch swing, and sneaking back out by the fire while everyone is asleep, just to smoke one more before turning in. I will miss you during my break times at work, 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, and again at 3:00 pm. I will miss you when I am driving home, from anywhere. I have made the decision to begin the wonderful journey as a non-smoker. In the next few days, I will be freeing my lungs of you, and will start to breathe better. I will be spending more time with my family. I will be exercising with my daughter, and running around more with her than when I was with you. I look forward to being in a social situation with other non-smokers without feeling like I am in a panic because I cannot get away to smoke. For I will be a non-smoker! I look forward to no longer having a home with yellow walls, and the foul stench of stale cigarette smoke in the air. I will embrace each and every deep breath that I takesmoke freeclearer and healthier, without coughing and wheezing. I will enjoy every moment in the car without yousinging my lungs out to the radio, looking through the crystal clear windshield, and smelling the fresh scent of my smokeless car. I will be free! And most important, I will embrace my little girlkiss her goodnight and shower her with hugs as often as she allows me, no longer holding my breath in an attempt to hide the horrible smell of cigarettes on it. She will no longer cry that she does not want me to die from smoking, for I will no longer have you in my life to shorten it. I LOVE her more than life itself.and I know that she will be proud of her Mommy. I understand that you will be upset, hurt, and sore at meespecially during those first few weeks. I realize that you will put forth your best effor

It's me again. Just read your letter and wanted to respond. Those daughters are sure wonderful motivators. My 19 year old college student spent the first three days of my quit within my sight to make sure I was okay and to encourage. Today is my two week quit anniversary and I received a beautiful fresh flower bouquet from her. It truly is a motivator to know how disappointed she would be in me and I in myself if I failed. Good luck and look forward to hearing from you! Joy

Dear Cigarettes, The jig is up. I found out what you really are. You're cheating on me. You lie. You steal. You're not what you seem. Over the years you've taken more than you've given back to me. You've stolen my money, my health and my time and in return you've given me..... NOTHING! My addiction kept me blind to you. I didn't see what you really are, but my eyes are clear now and I see you. Do you hear me? I SEE YOU. You are not good for me, you do not help me in any way. I will not stay in this destructive relationship. I do not need you anymore. Please leave and lock the door behind you. You are no longer welcome here. True - I will miss you, but only because you've sunk your hooks in so deeply. Only because you were engineered to make me miss you. I will no longer be a pawn in your game. You lose, I win. Good-bye forever my untrue friend. I finally see you for what you are. You simply use people and throw them away when you're done with them. This time, you're the one that's been thrown away. How does it feel? Signed A winner! (that felt good!)
