Nikki,
It sounds like your DESIRE is there... now we just have to work on the dedication to the quit. There is ONLY one way to quit... and that's to not smoke! :) I know it sounds simple, and it is... it's not easy, but the concept is very simple... you just don't smoke.
What are your coping strategies? What do you have planned for when you want to smoke? You need to have AT LEAST 3... I would suggest 5-7 coping strategies. Some examples would be gum, hard candy, licorice (my fave), ice water, straws to chew on and "smoke." I also found that twizzler's pull n' peel has the same resistance of a cigarette so you can "smoke" your licorice... and it tastes good too. :) Come up with a list of other coping strategies that will work for you. Coming on this site is a good one, going for a walk... in fact, any exercise is a GREAT way to get your mind off of smoking. Coping strategies are VERY important when quitting. Find some that will work for you.
Next, the boredom is a HUGE problem when quitting. If you smoked 1 pack, or 20 cigarettes a day, and it took you 6 minutes to smoke each one, that's TWO HOURS EACH DAY that you now have free. Have you ever said to yourself, "I wish there were more hours in a day!" or "I just don't have time to do the things I want to do." Well guess what?!?! You just found 2 hours a day! So enjoy them! Take up a new hobbie, exercise, join some sort of group, etc... keeping busy is key to having a successful quit.
You can do this Nikki, but you have to want to AND you have to be dedicated to it. I hope this time it sticks for you.
Crave the Quit!
Pam
