Hi Riverdale Man. Freedom....no question, and for me that REALLY means freedom because smoking was shutting me down and not just physically through not being able to breathe but socially as well. When I found myself being irritated by my son inviting me out for a meal, as the restaurant was non smoking, then I knew I'd reached my smoking rock bottom and the addiction needed to be beaten. I now feel free to do anything and go anywhere and take as long as I like without the anxiety of having to find a place and a time to appease the nicotine addiction. No more embarassment at having to duck out of a building for a fag, enjoying the fact that so many places are now smoke free - even pubs, not freaking 'cause I'm down to 1 cigarette, so much money seems to be in my purse every day, my energy levels are going up thru the roof, I'm getting to know myself a bit better, and on and on and on. Even though I've written my MAIN benefit, I have another one that makes me happy when I found out the news. My old sister is now joining the club of the living!!! She saw me and my energy level (and has seen me at my worst with the withdrawal) and STILL wants to quit. She just became a grandma (young grandma at age 41) and she wants to see that little child grow up.!!!! My biggest benefit is actually being able to keep up with my 6 and 11 year old boys at the park; I can go up a flight of stairs without looking like I'm dying; I smell better ;) and my husband and I fell in love all over again knowing we will spend even MORE time together. I have only started my quit (7 days ago) but I have already started feeling the benefits. I took such a deep breath 24 hours after stopping that I almost passed out from all the oxygen. I thought I had been using my lungs to full capacity when if fact I was just filling them with crud. I may have my ups and downs but knowing I will have a better chance of seeing my kids have kids is such a wonderful feeling. It makes all the cravings and withdrawal symptoms worth going through. RM, New to this, but one thing I have noticed, is that both my house and car stink! Phew! My house smells like a cheap, hotel room and my car smells like an ash tray.I didn't realize it :blush: I knew they probably smelled a tad, but this is beyond bad. When I had guests over, I would light candles just in case, the house smelled. My poor, but polite guests, Phewy. Can't wait until the house is totally aired out.
