When you first stop smoking, it is useful and healthy to spend time in conflict. Thinking about what's most important. Agonizing. Soul searching. If you do this, each decision to not smoke becomes a little easier. And eventually the final decision is solid and the conflict is gone. Just don't smoke. Stay close and strong, Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,619 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 20 Mins: 50 Seconds: 33

Newbkr... I hope you saved our emails from earlier. If you did go back and read them again. Have faith in yourself. You can do this. Remember....it's time to move on. It really is difficult to leave familiar area even if that area is miserable and uncomfortable. You want this change. You want to do this. You want to quit more than you want to smoke. Quitting is a journey Newbkr. Like Mike has told us from the beginning the journey is the reward. Focus on new horizons and finding new comfort zones. There is so much living for you to do. Do not be afraid. You are not alone. We are all here with you and will not leave you stranded. Take some deep breathes. Remember, getting started is the hardest part. You have the strength and determination that you need to succeed. Now then, chin up, best foot forward, one step at a time. Here we go.. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 202 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,058 Amount Saved: $707 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 21 Mins: 5 Seconds: 45

Newbkr, Trusting oneself, especially after we've let ourselves down so many times can be hard, but it's necessary to do that in order to grow as a person. I know this analogy is really really old and cliche, but I'm going to use it anyway... If a little baby learning to walk quit trying after the first time she fell on her butt, or even after she fell a dozen times, what would happen? She'd never learn to walk and would crawl for the rest of her life. She'd never know how great it is to be able to run. She'd never have the chance to walk along the beach, never walk down the isle at her wedding. Could you imagine having to crawl down the isle because you were too scared to walk because you fell a few times? She'd miss so much of life because she quit trying. But guess what! Babies don't give up after the first time they try. They may cry for a bit, especially if they fell really really hard, but no matter how hard they fall, they always get up to try again. Don't ever give up on yourself. There are lots of us who have tried to quit in the past but failed... in fact, we're probably the majority here. There are even a bunch of us who have fallen since finding this site, but the important part is not that we fell, but that we got back up and tried again. A smoke free life is yours Newbkr! Take it! Grab on to it! Don't let go! You WILL walk Newbkr. I have no doubt... and we're all here to hold your hands as you do it. Crave the Quit! hey newbkr, You are doing wonderfully. Let's just try to do this one second at a time. Can't think about tomorrow. Can't think about an hour from now. Keep telling yourself "I can't smoke now, maybe tomorrow" The lovely thing is .... tomorrow never comes... there is always another tomorrow. I was going to say "stop beating yourself up, and get on with it!", but Duffis said it much better than me. You can do this. I know you can. Tell Yourself. It's a choice!
