Good evening folks, Thank you all. Hi Hummy and Brent! Tks Josie. (I think this is my first message from you that doesnt say This is notify you your post has been deleted ~lol) See smogs I havent completely lost my humoUr (with a U for Ukers and Canadians) :eg: I was unable to get in here the last two weeks. So I spent my usual SSC time reading my quit journal and writing (and yes bfs I actually took the time to use a spell checker for once. Why do you looked shocked? :p ) Bogs~ as a matter of fact YES. I suspect you are STILL having PC problems too. Computer probs are depressing for me so Im sending good thoughts your way. *Hope U can feel it* For those of you that don't know, my dad (with lung issues) relapsed because "he doesn't want to change". Some of the above is taken from a letter I wrote to him. Anyway~ How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but the bulb has to be willing to change. ~all the best N2k My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 162 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,585 Amount Saved: $810 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 11 Mins: 15 Seconds: 25

Why should you stop smoking? (OR) Why should you stay quit? Consider this: -Smoking reduces your life expectancy. Smoking can make you sick. Smoking can kill you. As a smoker, you frighten the people in your life that love you and depend on you. The consequences of your smoking are REAL, not hypothetical. You can block it out but you cant make it go away. Consider what you are doing to your family. -I learned that at approximately $4.60 per pack, assuming you smoke one pack per day, your annual cost of smoking is almost $1700.00. And assume that the average smoker doesn't usually live past the age of seventy (if they live that long). If you started smoking at an early age, your total lifetime savings would be around $91,000.00. -More and more, society tends to view smoking as an awful and dangerous practice. By quitting smoking you are sending a message to EVERYONE that you have the strength, the common sense and the commitment to quit. Show other people around you that you are a STRONG, capable person. By quitting smoking, you are communicating to the people you know that you cherish life and that you are the type of person that makes responsible life-long decisions. Take pride in quitting smoking! Quitting smoking is a great achievement and the credit will be ALL yours so reward your self often. -(for the girls and pretty boys) Many spend a small fortune on anti-wrinkle creams, but the best way to stay beautiful is to stop smoking. The average smoker has ten times more wrinkles compared to non-smokers. A smoker's skin is wrinkled, pale and grayish. Smoking causes the microscopic muscle fibers in the walls of the blood vessels to contract causing smokers to have pale skin. A single cigarette can reduce the blood supply to the skin for more than an hour. Giving up smoking will improve the blood supply to the skin and give previously pale skin a more 'natural' appearance. -Smoking can also stain your teeth. Its no surprise that smokers look like smokers. Quit smoking - look better, smell better, taste better, feel better, hear better (I made the last one up) -If you smoke then you probably experience severe shortness of breath. This is because your lungs are filled with a sticky black substance you know as 'tar' that inhibi

Thank U Luna! But we all know YOU are the 'good' writer N the family ;) -- I missed U Mc! (more on that in the FAF thread) Thanks for the well wishes for dad. I also told him that I love him the same whether he continues to smoke or not. I don't expect a nice letter from me is going to be an epiphany for him. A letter from him wouldn't have caused me to quit. But, it makes me feel better because now if something bad happens I won't feel guilty for 'saying nothing'. Good 2C U2 and Don't worry I'm not goN 2make a habit out of getN serious. I wouldn't want 2ruin my reputation as a smart @ss ;p ~all the best N2k My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 163 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,603 Amount Saved: $815 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 13 Mins: 8 Seconds: 59

N@K- (trans: that's N2K in proper Luna-language...) Nice surprise on a Monday morning to find a post from you. Feels like old home week when I see names I recognize. Great post if a bit serious for my taste. Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine never did quit. Neither did my mom. And it contributed to both of them passing before their time. So, I wish you luck in convincing your dad to give it another shot. I imagine telling him that we both thought we could never quit either probably would not matter. Any who, great to see your shining, uh...words, I guess. Missed you. Cold Turkeys love Dads who are Quitters! Hey Bogbott, just noticed you hiding in here struggling a bit. At your stage its got to pass quickly. You dont want to go backwards. Think you are over a 100 days ? That was a nippy time for a lot of folk. Once you get over that hurdle .. you become like N2K and myself ..loose yer humor .. Great serious post though N2K :p
