Wow - that's scary - thanks for sharing Gaga - you are so right - we were like human chemical reactors when we smoked - stupid or what?!! Thanks GAGA for the scary reality check. It helps to keep these truths in perspective for the days we "miss" our cigs. Not Me, Not Ever!!! I work in a chemical manufacturing facility. Although I do not work in the process area I work around dangerous chemical. We constantly receive safety training to be able to work around these chemicals. Some of the chemicals are acetone, ammonia, formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide. We place these chemical in large reactors and change them into chelating agents. In short a chelating agent hold together other materials. An example would be if you did not have a chelating agent in your clothes soap it would separate. What is ironic to me is these chemicals are also in cigarettes. Smokers light these chemicals and inhale the smoke and just like our reactors the chemical inhaled also change. These changes dont produce chelates they produce cancers, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, heart disease, heart attacks and asthma. Now this did not affect me when I was smoking but today I think of being a human chemical reactor and now for life have decided not to smoke. When I first arrived here I was introduced to NOPE and today it is my motto. Gaga, Thanks for the informative post. Why didn't we receive safety training when we first started to smoke? Knowledge is a key component here and we can never learn enough :) Thanks, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
