Singin the blues

hi everyone. Iv'e been having trouble connecting to the internet. I don't even know what I want anymore. I'm feeling so down and I suspect it has something to do with this 30 day pit. I don't want to go out or talk to anyone. I feel angry, sad, bored, lonely, no body likes me, blah, blah, blah. How's that for feeling sorry for myself eh? I know that I should just get off my ass and do something but I can't seam to motivate myself. Sound depressed? you bet. I am already taking zoloft for depression(have been for 10 years now), I am walking 5 miles a day on my treadmill, but I do not want to go out. Most people I know smoke so I don't see anyone anymore. Sorry for singin the blues....At least I'm not smoking. Thanks guys. Reading these posts really helps. I,m not feeling so blue this morning and I've even stepped down again. I know...I may be rushing things but there's a freezing rain storm here, all the kids are home from school and all I had was a box of step 3 patches. So far so good. I'm actually feeling better knowing that I will soon be off the nicoteen. No matter how down I get, smoking is not an option. That would make me even more depressed. I know that the thought that a cigarette will make me feel better is a big fat lie. So here I am fakin it til I make it. Keep taking it one step at a time Cincere. It really does get better. It just takes a while. A lot of us have been where you are now. You can do it. Just keep doing what you are doing because it looks like it is working to me. Reward yourself too. When I start getting down, shopping really does help. You don't have to spend a lot. Just get something that says I'm worth it because I'm doing something that is hard and I'm succeeding at it! Congratulations on your 32 days! cincere, You guessed it!!! 30 day pit! Oh, that one's rough, but when you're at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on! It'll get better in a few days, I promise! What won't make it better is a cigarette! Do some deep breathing and relax if you can. Also, have you rewarded yourself for 30 days? If not, make sure you go out and do something fantastic for yourself! You deserve it! Crave the Quit! Butterfly p.s. A cigarette can NOT be your reward! :8o: :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/28/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,518 Amount Saved: $330 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 7 Mins: 25 Seconds: 23

cincere, Depression is very normal at this stage and it may even come and go for a while until your mind and body stabilize with your new smoke-free life. But when you're feeling it... that doesn't help too much huh? You're already exercising and that helps depression but if you can do just one thing...consider walking outdoors, even if you have to force yourself. Winter time amplifies depression for some because of the reduced exposure to light. A simple 20 minutes of exposure to the sun (and yes, that works on cloudy days) actually causes chemical changes in your boday that ease depression. It gives you time to clear your mind and lungs too. This phase will eventually pass but if it hangs on too long, it could mean that need to speak with your doc and have your meds adjusted. Our whole body chemistry changes when we quit..and smoking masked a lot of things. Anyway, congrats on your first month! And you're right, "at least you're not smoking". Like it's been said a thousand times on this site... "Whatever it takes...just don't smoke!" :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 368 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,374 Amount Saved: $1313.76 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 1 Mins: 2 Seconds: 39

That is correct! You are not smoking! Do not dwell on your attitude at this time. Concentrate on staying quit :). So what if you are grumpy or feel like lying low for a few days! Your body is recovering from your quit! You are on day 32 and have not smoked 817 cigarettes! Awesome! Keep going Cincere! You are well on your way to a successful quit!
