Sheller, Glad to hear you're doing well and still maintaining your quit. Keep persevering! Danielle ________________________________ The SSC Support Team

Sheller, These are great observations, always enjoy hearing thoughts of those way deeper into their quits than I am. I pretty much have adopted the school of thought that even if I am 3 years into my quit, that I will NOT let my guard down or put myself in a situation that I cannot handle. - I have walked away from plenty of bad stuff in my life, and I have definitely chosen to walk away from smoking. The nice weather does bring out a lot of associations with all of us ex-smokers sitting out on our decks, patios, picnic tables, etc. smoking like there is no tomorrow. Outside is nicer smoke free, all those good summer smells like the garden, the steak on the grill, the way your kid smells when they get out of the pool, sun tan lotion all coconutty ~ you get the picture. Thanks for saying what you did...... Thanks Sheller, it is food for thought. We just have to remember, where ever we are in our quit, that we are only 1 cig away from being an addict again. Hey all, Sorry about the lack of posts but been busier then three guys named Larry. Here's a head's up to all. BEWARE THE CHANGE OF SEASON!! Scroll down to the bottom of this and look at my outstanding stats! Never been prouder of anything in my life because nothing I've ever done has been this hard. That said.... it's been a very stressful couple of weeks and the weather turned nice... used to be my favourite time to go out and light up and I got a HUGE craving this week. Now before all you newbies throw up your hands and say "man if she still has awful cravings after 5 months, what's the point?" keep in mind this is the only bad craving I've had in weeks. But I did realize the change in seasons was a big trigger for me. Since I only smoked outside because of the kids, the change to nice weather was always a great relief. others have said it before and I'm just here to reinforce it. If takes a good year before you can sigh a big sigh of relief. You need to go through all the seasons, the holidays, birthdays, stress that each season merrily brings. It's not like living the first week for a whole year but once in a while the junkie takes another stab at getting you to light one up. Have I mentioned how great I feel? Only 3 1/2 more weeks and it's 6 months. you just wait to see the reward for that one!! Just remember all, if I can do it ANYONE can. Great post, Sheller. I have seen all the seasons and am beginning round 2. One thing I've learned is that, even though there are some craves after the 6 month mark, they are really wimpy little things that soon devolve into thoughts that become briefer and briefer. Eventually, the thoughts of smoking become realizations that you haven't thought of smoking. I expect even those realizations will fade away in time. So if anyone, regardless of where in your quit you are, get hit this summer, just keep in mind they are temporary and it does get so much better. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 379 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,581 Amount Saved: $1440.2 Life Gained: Days: 70 Hrs: 15 Mins: 59 Seconds: 37
