My mother and stepfather used the inhaler and were successful at quitting smoking at 69 and 74 years of age. They are both still going strong today, that was 10 years ago. Mom says quitting was the best thing she'd ever done. Hi Jaybird and welcome to the wonderful family of SSC Quitters! There are many roads one can take to get to the destination of being a Non-Smoker. Whatever road you decide to take, just remember that the mental aspect of your quit is mainly up to you (with the support of all of us, of course). Aids will help you be a little more calm or lessen the physical withdrawal over a longer stretch of time ... but ultimately it is up to you, your determination and perseverance. Get your mind in a positive place. Believe you can do this and you will. Hey, what DO all those icons mean??? Anyway, I'm on day 1 with the new inhaler...and wow! it's much better than I expected. That inhaler packs a whallop and I LOVE the sucking on it like a good ole cigarette....even letting it hang out my mouth while I work on the computer! (which I never would have done with a real cigarette!). I joined the co-workers out back smoking my inhaler and they thought that was great! Plus, it doesn't STINK!!! Hands don't stink afterwards, hair doesn't stink. I would really like to hear from anyone else who has used the inhaler and made it! Anyone out there? Progressed in filling out my activity & temptation plans again, too. I feel optimistic (at this moment! groan). I've tried everything. Just this morning I got a prescription for the inhaler and now I'm going to try that. Anybody out there with some positive experience with it?

Hi, jaybird. Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and welcome to the SSC. Personally, I have no experience with any NRTs, but many here have used their various forms with success. Regardless of what quit method you use, gaining control over this addcition takes determination, committment, and a postive attitude. I'm glad you've joined us, jaybird. Stay close, read much, post often. Let us know how you're doing and if we can help. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 374 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,492 Amount Saved: $1421.2 Life Gained: Days: 69 Hrs: 20 Mins: 5 Seconds: 56

jaybird, This device consists of a plastic mouthpiece and cartridge containing a specific amount of nicotine. Members have said that the inhaler may be useful for "the hand to mouth action of smoking". In this case, the inhaler resembles a cigarette and the nicotine is inhaled through the mouth. It is said that after 20 minutes of intense deep inhalations you will have used all the available nicotine in a cartridge. Members, can you add to jaybird's question: "I've tried everything. Just this morning I got a prescription for the inhaler and now I'm going to try that. Anybody out there with some positive experience with it?" We will help you every step of the way jaybird! Stay close to our online support and please refer to our Online Quit Program. It is free and can be used before, during and after your quit smoking. Keep us posted!
