My Smoking Spouse....

for 17 år siden 0 53 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
This was a good post for me to see. I partner smokes and she has talked of quitting on the 1st of October. She has been supportive though - smokes outside, but does leave some packs around that have like 3 or 4 in it. I think it is her way of testing me, but I water log them and throw them out LOL. They way everyone else has been dealing I have been doing as well. Hopefully she will quit too. Doodles, You did the right thing here, be proud of yourself! You could of easily made the choice not to give them back to him but you didn't. That's a victory in our books! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Well, doodles, you're strong enough to hand a pack to him & not take one for your trouble! That's a good start. You're doing great, keep it up! bump I just handed my husband his pack of cigs that he left on the kitchen counter!! He is supposed to keep those in his car, locked up! We have an agreement that he does not smoke around me... I am just not that strong.. maybe eventually.... I can deal with it. BUMP for anyone with a smoking spouse. It can be done. I did and well, I continued and even made it through this past weekend when my smoking spouse smoked his last cig around me. Yep, he flew the coup and Im now picking up the pieces there. Keep your quits all you wonderful newbies (and oldies here too). I haven't come here in over a month and I'm sorry about not being more supportive. I'm hanging in and now I see my stats are climbing again quickly. NoTHING is worth that one puff after one quits. Good for you cheermom!!!! When it comes down to it is your quit and you cannot control your hubby. When I first saw my husband smoking it was hard, I was lost. Damn it we smoke together. The longer in my quit the easier and the smell just reminds me why I quit, YUCK!!!! He says he is going to quit sometime but hey that is up to him. Till then I call him my dirty little smoker and leave it at that. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,811 Amount Saved: $252 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 19 Mins: 56 Seconds: 36

Well, Halloween of all nights I FINALLY came to terms with my spouse and his continued smoking choice. I am sad he did start but I am glad that I haven't. I didn't for the first time nag him about his stinky cig smell and I also saw him smoking in the distance while I took my two boys trick or treating. I also had prepared myself beforehand with a very good friend, Lady. I talked to her for a little while and was able to come to grips with things BEFOREHAND. It does help, newbies, to prepare ahead of time for situations you know will be tough. If you do, you can overcome anything. I am more calm than I have been since I found out my spouse started smoking. Even he is more relaxed and said he may join this website and work through things BEFOREHAND (there's that word again) and get to a point where he could actually want to quit. What a blessing and joy to hear that from him. Hugs and hope everyone is fine!!! Hi cheermom! My wife still smokes and I try not to force her to quit. I think that I can become a source of inspiration to her. With this thought I try to help myself first and stay strong on my own quit... Another quitters here have the same problem and other ways to face the situation.
