I love how your post described the cycle of negative thinking. We get stuck going in a negative circle ... it seems unending. When we are in it, sometimes it feels like we can't get out. All it takes is a positive thought and then acting on that positive though. Or better yet ... just act boldly whether you feel like it or not ... before you know it ... you will be feeling better. I like how you talked yourself out of the negative tailspin. I think it may help others to recognize their selves in such a situation. Please post and let us know how you are doing. Congrats on your 100 days! Be proud. Reward yourself. Enjoy your upcoming vacation! Quitter, You have some great ideas there for removing the BLAH's. Seems like once you quit smoking, you've got to quit A LOT of other things too. Good thing your a quitter, now you can quit the slump you're in. Your attitude is so positive (love that!) As for me, I'm quitting eating so much food! I also quit going outside for breaks, which used to be a lot of good social time for me. I quit sitting on the couch too - there's a treadmill calling me each day when I get home. Quit Quit Quit. GEEZ! Smile tho - it is great to be a quitter! Hope you enjoy your down time in the bubble bath~ CobenFan (Christine) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,418 Amount Saved: $290.5 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 17 Mins: 19 Seconds: 31

Well, this is my last day of work before that vacation, and I'm feeling more capable today. Friday was a good day, thanks everyone for your comments and support! The depression has indeed abated a bit, but cravings are hitting with a little more frequency. I'm not going to worry too much about the cravings. If I crave, I crave. So what? I'm not going to smoke. But I will: Cook and eat delicious, healthy food. Drink yummy drinks, like starbucks frappacinos and SOBEs. Buy a new lipstick or scent. Go for walks and spend lots of time outside. Stay away from smoking while I'm craving, ask smokers to wait if I'm craving. Be proud of being quit! Take things a day at a time, and have as much fun as I can. Have a lovely smoke-free day, everyone! Well, I tried to deny it was here, but all week I've been sitting at my desk doing nothing. I've been avoiding work like it would hurt. I've been thinking negative thoughts constantly and not laughing or smiling as much as normal. I've been looking for things to worry about, waking up tired and spending all of my time planning how life will be better down the road instead of enjoying how nice life is right now. I've been in a slump, a low-grade depression. I want to break out of it. I'm not sure how related this is to smoking...I'm not craving any more than normal. Whenever the thought of a cigarette comes up, I'm immediately thinking about how glad and proud I am that I quit, then steering my thoughts toward staying that way. I don't feel as thought my quit is in jeopardy, just because being a non-smoker is so great and being a smoker sucks so bad. I know I can't have just one, ever, and I won't, no matter what. I'm committed to my quit. But I do need to snap out of this slump. It's gonna get me fired if I continue it much longer, sitting at my desk job-searching all day and ignoring duties. I need to set some short-term goals. I have a vacation coming up, next week. I need to come back from it pumped back up, depression vanquished. I need to: Spend time on myself, lots of it. Read books, make my house spotless, rent movies, laze around with my kitten drink tea, go yard-selling, write for myself, lots of bubble baths. Repair my happiness. Enjoy sunshine, cook good food, walk barefoot on green grass. Think of projects at work I can get excited about. Put off the idea of changing jobs for a bit, and do a better job of this one. It would be a downer to make a career transition when I'm in such a slump on a job I've done well for years. I'd feel like I've failed at this one. No sense in that when I know I can be successful. OK. Enough sitting on my butt feeling sorry for myself and then feeling guilty for sitting on my butt. Today will be a good, productive day. Hey quitter - I can relate and sympathize. We all have days like that don't we? Sounds like you have a plan of attack to break out of the slump. I'm sure you will. vacation has a way of recharging the human batteries huh? Get out and have some fun. You're right, smoking wont help and I don't think you will smoke. You're right about where I am, your realizing the quit is for real and forever. I've gone through a little slump lately myself. the junkie talks to me and tells me it would be okay to have one, it would make me feel better, I wouldn;t start up again... LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES....... I NOT LISTENING NYA NYA NYA NYA NYA NYA.... Hang in there - you'll feel better soon I know it. quitter, You are passed 100 days and this is great! Take the vacation and relax yourself. Come back full of energy and attack the list that has to get done. Make a list for each day and get everything on that list done. You can do this! Make sure you check with your doctor if this depression persists. Smoking has a way of masking other problems. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
