thanks for responding red. i have looked up the panic attacks that come with pmsing and i do believe that it can be called PMDD - premenstrual disphoric disorder. my gyno gave me a prescription for sarafem. i can't wait to see if that works. it's an antidepressant but the great thing is is that i only have to take it when i'm pmsing. i'm glad because i don't want to take an antidepressant daily. you might check into that and see if you suffer the same symptoms.. almost all the symptoms listed i suffer from so i'm pretty confident that that's what i have. well, i need to sign off, but thanks again for responding. i appreciate it. dana

Hi, Dana, I am so happy that you were able to figure out that the medicine is what triggered your attacks. I also take Xanax for panic attacks, which I have been having all of my life. I am at a point now where I can put myself in a position to change what is triggering my attacks. It mighjt be the way some one always puhes my buttons, or an activity that I do..no matter what...I change it! I can remember having a lot more attacks just before the start of my monthly...I think it has to do with hormone fluctuation. Can you research this on the internet? I , and many others, would love to know about this topic. welcome to the group..and remember..we are here for you. Red

hi, i'm new into this site... i've have been a panic sufferer for years and didn't know it until about 4 or 5 years ago.. they actually told me i had vertigo. well, about 5 years ago it got really bad and i was finally diagnosed. they put me on xanax and zoloft which worked pretty good but i got off the meds thought i was fine... and i was for about 2 years, then i took zyban to quit smoking and boy did i start having some SERIOUS attacks. i'm almost 100% positive that that's what set them off and now i have them at least once a month. i got off the zyban immediately and went back onto the zoloft. it works but i always feel so emotionally flat on it. so now i keep a supply of xanax so that when i feel one coming on i just take half a pill and sit back and relax.. that is "only" if it feels like one i won't be able to stop myself. i've gotten pretty good at that and there are some major things that help.. a good hug from my son can often snap me out of it... or just saying to myself "this ends now" and doing something that takes concentration. but there are times when the urge to crawl into a corner and never come out does happen. my problem is is that my dad had mental problems they think paranoid schizophrenia, so when i have my attacks i start panicking that i'm like him. he tried to commit suicide 3 times. unfortunately this was back before they really new anything about mental conditions so i'm not sure what was wrong with him.. anyways.. i'm writing a book, i just want to say, thanks goodness i found people who can relate!!!!! we can all beat this... we just have to have faith!! p.s. does anyone have them more frequently before "that time" of the month.. that's when mine really hit. PMDD?
