Dealing with emotions without smoking. It is part of the quit process, even though it may take a long time after the actual quitting is over to get through it.
I don't know what sparked this thread for you, but I do know I've been dealing with my own demons (not Nic) that Nic kept supressed. We all go through it to some extent, some more, some less. Know that it is normal and you are not alone in this.
For me, I try to recognize when some feeling is abnormal in either presence or intensity. If I do recognize the oddity, I try to not let it influence what I do until I've either calmed down or processed what's going on. It's quite similar to delaying tactics during a crave. The secret is the recognition. I still miss a lot and fly off, but it is getting better over time. Baby steps and don't get down on yourself if you misstep.
I posted once long ago to the effect that newbies should never hesitate to offer advice to anyone, regardless of how long they've been quit. This thread is a shining example of that.
Lady, you've gotten so much good advice from everyone who's replied. Please, take some time and reread everyone. Slowly, let it sink in. Think of the meanings behind the words. There's some powerful advice here if you'll just let yourself see it. If you'll just realize that it really does apply to you.
Please remember one thing. YOU ARE IMPORTANT! Never doubt that for a moment, regardless of the circumstances.
