Here come the blues.......

Well....I knew it couldn't last forever....the last few days have been great and now here I am with the blues. Hubby had to go help his brother and I am home alone. I used to love this time alone because I could sit at the computer indulge my addiction to playing cards over the internet and smoke my brains out. At one point I thought...oh just click in and try a game (I even won!) but after one game I knew it was still just too much of a trigger for me and I opted for a nap. I knew I should get my act together and make plans to go out...but I have been just too lethargic...so here I am....singing the blues. I stepped down to 14 mg patch on Weds and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my lack of energy. I'm also going to visit friends in 2 weeks and I'm already starting to worry about it. This was the friend I used to party and smoke with...In fact, she is the first person I ever smoked with. On the other hand, I can't just keep avoiding friends forever. (By the way, she and hubby have both quit smoking...it's just that they had "easy" quits and I'm not sure they will understand if I am not up to a "party" or playing cards) Oh well...enough whining....going to plan some kind of reward into my day tomorrow and hope that this is a temporary phase along the way. Thanks Danielle....This is probably the first time that I have spent several hours at home by myself. Initially he was going away tomorrow...so I hadn't realized that it would have the effect on me. Just posting has helped already and tomorrow will be a whole new day....and guess what...I do have a new addiction to replace cards...it's called "SCC"! Hi Windy, The blues would visit me from time to time during the 40 day mark, too, I remember. It's not easy to be active in being positive when you're feeling like this, is it? I hope you're feeling better soon. Do something you really like today, however small it may be. Sending you positive vibes!!! Hello Windy With forty days down you are going to be just fine. You have nearly seven weeks and no, your quit is not harder than normal. It is normal, what would one expect. Go to bed early if feeling blue, turn on a talk show with the sleep switch set, my favorite is "Coast to Coast", and sleep well. Tomorrow you can get up and exercise.

Hey Windy, it's ok to have the blues once in a while, everybody has them. Try to see things in a different light: You visit your friends and you don't smoke anymore. Party and no smoking is more fun than a party with smoking, cause then you stink and now you don't....lol. That is just fantastic. Be proud of yourself for the 40 days :) It's awesome :) Good luck and hugs xxxx My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 204 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,116 Amount Saved: 601.8 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 3 Mins: 40 Seconds: 30

Windy, Some quitters do experience a temporary swing of mood when they step down from the patch. It's normal and it will pass. A change of routine may be in order. Take up a new hobby until you feel you can go back to your card playing. Write, draw, paint, knit, the options are endless. Heck, spend a Sunday under the covers with your favorite book or movies or take the longest bath in human history. A reward is a great idea! It may just give your mood a boost. For your trip, just like your quit, prepare. You may also want to talk to your friend. She's a quitter just like you and will probably understand. Sending virtual hugs you're way. Feel better.
