Windy don't ever be ashamed to vent here, this is what this forum is for. You have not been doing much venting and much noise, I think I vented more than you did in the beginning of my quit. I posted and posted every little thing that I let get to me. It helped me so much I wouldn't have made it this far if not for SSC. So vent away we are here for you and don't worry nobody will judge you, you're doing it you're quitting one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,814 Amount Saved: $480 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 22 Mins: 54 Seconds: 41

What we bring to our lives, how hard we work to stay centered, to deal with conflict and fear, and to stay on focus daily, will also support our Quit journey... And in my case, it makes it a calmer, more gentle Quit. Healer hi, just want to understand this : I thought, when I was a smoker, that I was centered etc etc, but since I quit I have come to realize I still have a lot of work to do on myself to get there. So I guess I wasn't that centered and focused, this is my theory, if a person is centered and focused and deals with fear and conflict easily that person to me IS NOT A SMOKER, IN OTHER WORDS DOES NOT SUFFER FROM ADDICTION OF ANY KIND. This is the way I see it. I'm opened to listen to explanations because I do want to understand this theory. Hi Healer, thank you for your post. I understand the concept and I agree (from my own experience) that how determined (key word) one is in the face of challenges makes a huge impact on the quit. I also agree that we're talking about one's power. Also I would like to add that if a quitter has a high degree of addiction to nicotine, we know this when we do the test, it will be harder for that person, so that could be the difference between easy and not so easy in the early part of the quit, after that it's totally a mind game and I believe this is when the power factor kicks in for the long run. We have to go through many steps to get to the top and then remain there. Working on it one day at a time and I always appreciate reading the posts on this board, it has saved me and continues to help me on this journey. On with the quit one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,811 Amount Saved: $480 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 22 Mins: 4 Seconds: 31

Gonna ,stay on the patch as long as you need before changing to a lower dose. I couldn't have done it without the patch, I'm positive of this, while it alliviated the withdrawal symptoms, after a tough 3or 4 days it kicked in , then I could relax and work on the habit part. It's a long process this quitting business as everything in our lives is associated to it for so many years. You know you were here at the beginning of my quit, I was a mess most of the time, you're not alone in this, we all know how it feels, we're here to support each other so post, vent, tell us about the pity pot don't keep it in we can help. Over the last five months I have used so many varying degrees of patches off and on....My Dr. says he is less concerned about the nicotine patches than the smoke and all it's other poisons (I have COPD). Whenever I FINALLY get this quit thing down pat, I am afraid that I will have been on patches for years. I do appreciate and am envious of those who claim a quiet, uneventful quit that is equivalent to the stress I endure when faced in a knot in my shoe... My husband is one of you. I can't help, however, in thinking that the majority of us quitters go through this process accompanied by pain, agony, depression, anxiety, etc.... I am one of those. I want to quit SO BADLY. I have slipped SO OFTEN. I am SO DETERMINED this time. The MAIN reason I have so enjoyed the SSC is that the people are supportive of the QUIT PROCESS...which may take many, many times... When I did the addiction test, it said that only 1% were more addicted to nicotine than I was. Yes, that's right ... I scored a 99! And for the record my quit journey has been easy. I am not saying there were not some bumps in the road. There were, but so what. I got busy learning new emotional coping skills. I practiced using them. Those new emotional coping skills have replaced the want/need to smoke. No one should think that 'flushing your pity pot' or 'venting' is a bad thing. It isn't. Venting is healthy. Holding it in and/or dwelling on it constantly is what is not healthy. Feel your emotions. Vent them. Work through them, whatever it takes. Learn from them. Flush. Move on. ;p Don't get stuck, don't dwell. Love yourself more than that. Exslave - Thanks. VERY intersting hearing about your staff members at the job .... thanks for sharing the details with us. The ratio is good at your work! We have VERY few smokers left out of a company of 1200.
