N2K, Your message brought tears to my eyes also. Your grandfather is a walking miracle. And also has such a will to live. And as he told you it just wasn't his time yet..I can see why he is your hero, and seeing all that he has been through makes quitting smoking a little less harder. And I believe that with all my heart. Did you see the quote for today:
Once you begin to believe there is help "out there" you will know that it is true.
Now I don't remember who said it. I loved the quote you have here. Wow, look at your stats, congratulations I know that you are so proud to strut those 325 days. They are awesome and so are you. Kim, thank you for all your thought and prayers. Thanks for sharing your story, this is what I was hoping for. Good things still do happen. You hear so much of the bad and not enough of the good. You are so right about our quits, we wonder sometime where we get the determination and strength to fight this addiction. And I am sure there are people that we are not aware of that is lifting us up each day. I know that we feel so alone sometime in this quit, and this quit is ours and only ours. But it doesn't mean we don't get strength from unknown sources. Kim, congratulation on your 34 day, just keep on fighting and you will find the journey does get easier. My thoughts are with you. Be blessed, Sunshine

Hello Everyone, I want to start with thanking all of you for all of your prayers and thoughts.. You will never know what they have meant to me and my family. I felt the strength from each and everyone of you. When my daughter Pam posted for me, I chose not to say anything about my medical condition. I know now that I was in shock and I didn't know what to tell her to put in the post. So I just told her to be brief until we knew more. I have been on the site and read the post that Eve C.A.R.E. started after my daughter posted. Eve, thank you that was so sweet of you, and so thoughtful. Polly, thank you for posting my 6 month milestone. You are someone I respect and admire. Then Healer, thanks my friend for all the updates you did. You are a special lady, and a very dear friend. I don't want to ramble too much so I will just get down to what really happened to me. The first symptoms I noticed was I didn't have good balance, and stayed lightheaded. When I would get up to walk it felt like I was walking to my right, or I would go backwards. Had a headache, but nothing I couldn't handle with meds, then my blood pressure became elevated, blood sugar went really high 350. So I thought all the symptoms was from my BP and Blood Sugar. Oh, was I ever so wrong.... After a CT and MIR scan of my brain, it showed I had a tumor at the base of my brain stem, and was very invasive. First I was told it was inoperable, then the next day the Dr told me they had decided to do radiation treatments for 10 days. Then they would do another CT scan and see if the tumor had shrunk any. If it had not shrunk enough then I could have another round of radiation after 5 days. I was to start the radiation on Monday. On Sunday, the radiologist that was going to do the radiation ordered another CT scan, so he could mark where he was going to put the radiation. So that was done. Then I got a wonderful hair cut, but I'm not complaining. Monday, when my medical team (Neurosurgeons) came in, I could feel something was different about then. It was like they didn't know what to say. This was very scary, I was expecting to hear the worse, saying they couldn't do anything. So they began to explain to me and my family about the previous scans, they believed that the pla

Hi Ron, So good to hear from you and know that you are doing well. Thank you for all of your support and prayers. You and I will have to have a parade, to show off our new hairdo's. Mine is all in the back. Being a fireman I'm sure you have seen things happen that is nothing short of a miracle..This is what I am hoping will come out of this thread. As you have already seen N2K message about her grandfather. So I guess what I am trying to say is don't ever give up... Congratulations on those awesome 121 days, you're at the beach, please protect your head, and don't let it get sunburned. I've been through some scary chemo in my time and I'm so glad to hear that you made it through some of that scariness to the other side. It's more the process of confronting an illness and mortality than the symptoms of an illness that make it so scary. It's amazing how thankful we are for all of the little things that we take for granted after something like this. I'm so glad that you are OK. I missed you very much and I am so glad that you are back. I missed your postings and hope to see them often again.
