Hang in there all 4. We are on the journey of the first day... I feel a few bumps, but come on now... no flat tires.. grab that cinnamon candy, mint, gum or treat. chew the *heck* out of it.
You may think you may be fooling others by hiding your smoking. But most NON smokers can smell smoke on your hair, clothes. you may not reek, but it is still subtly there.. you are probably not fooling anyone but yourself..

I am reading Allen Carr's book too. I am almost finished just a chapter to go. I really learned alot. I use self talk a lot based on his principles. Cigarettes. What are they good for... Absolutely nothing.
You can do it this time. Just stick close to this site since you are a secret smoker and probably can not talk to your family about it, but my guess is they probably already know.

Got on the computer, did the dishes, just little things until I got to leave the house. Thanks for all the support. My big thing will be to make it through Saturday. But for now, a little at a time.

So far so good today. I will make it through another work day. Last evening when no one was home was a little rough. Distraction worked. Glad to be smoke free today!!!

Been here before but have some hurdles I just can't seem to get over. I do fine, not much of withdrawals, but cannot be around smokers. I put out my last one at 7 am. As far as I can see, I don't need to be around anyone but my family for the next 5-7 days. I want to make it past that. I can't tell my family cuz I've been a secret smoker for a month or so now. I have Alan Carr's book right next to me. I am determined not to have "slips" again.

All4me,
Good job! What kind of distractions did you use?
Thanks for checking in and please let us know if we can assist you in anyway.

All4me,
Welcome back to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit!
Take some time to look back on previous quit attempts. Pull out the strategies that worked for you. Then surf through our forums and add to that list.
Also try to identify the triggers past and current that urged you to smoke and find ways to get around them. One of yours would be the presence of smokers. What coping mechanisms do you have in place to keep you from smoking?
Have a reward system in place. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for the end of each smoke-free day and a bigger one for the end of each smoke-free week.
Rework the program! It will teach you how to change your behavior!
Lastly make a list of everything you hate about smoking and all the benefits you'll gain from your quit and carry it with you always.
Hope this helps, good luck and check back soon.
Danielle

Hi All for me!
Welcome back and I know that you can do this. Keep your aids handy and try and figure out those trigger points so you can keep your stress down. Work the program notebook and keep that book handy.
You're awesome!

Hi all4... I hope this post finds you going strong in your first 8 hours. You've been down this road before so now you seem to know what trips you. All you can do now is prepare and be ready for when that time comes again. Practice the scenerio in your mind and decide what your best coping mechanisms will be...then put them into play. Don't let a single second with a lousy cigarette throw away the freedom you're working towards. It's time to get tough... It's time for you to be in control... not your addiction.
Your goal is to complete hell week and that sounds like an excellent goal to me. Face each moment as it comes... then before you know it... you'll be there. I'll be watching for your celebration :)
