Marie,
First of all, you're completely normal. The stench is hard to stand after we quit because all of our senses are so hightened due to quitting. So yes, it's gonna stink. But I've learned that if you want to KEEP your friends, then don't push them to quit. If they bring the subject up, then you can speak honestly about your experiences, but if they don't, then they're probably not ready. If somebody would talk to you about quitting, even in a non-harrassing way, when you weren't ready, how did YOU respond? I had a pre-made excuse for every single arguement that somebody could possibly make to me. I was the best at those retorts. So I know that there was absolutely NO way that I was gonna quit until I was absolutely, positively ready on MY terms... and either will your friends. Support them, love them and be there for them to share your experiences and give your knowledge that you've gained from quitting when they ask... and then leave the rest to them. That's sometimes the hardest thing to do (trust me! I know! There've been MANY smokers that I've wanted to "save" from their addictions... but I know I can't), but it's what needs to be done in order to keep your friends and not cause hostility or resentment. Good luck!
Crave the Quit!
Pam
