Advice for the "newbies"

Hi Rob - Thanks for your post. I am a newbie heading toward being an in-betweenie and I really appreciate the more experienced quitters. Sometimes when we experience a "downer" or get hit out of left-field, it really helps to hear from someone who has experienced the same thing and to find out how they coped. More importantly, during this time, it is important to know that there is so much to gain from quitting.....So don't leave us just yet! I am a Septender....but I have found support from many other people who are/have or will be going through the same things as me. I think it's great that we're such a mixed pot as long as we respect each other's differences. The support I have received here has made the difference between a successful quit and a failed quit. What a great group of quitters! Always hated that word and still do....but there it is; forgive me! I haven't seen much group-making....like Aug, Sept or Oct quitters getting together to support each other. You new quitters know what you're going through the best. Just read up on what this addiction is about and help each other through it no matter how long it takes you. Those who are stronger- help those who are struggling. Seems simple. So look for those with similar quits going and do your best to help each other :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 237 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,507 Amount Saved: $2133 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 1 Mins: 14 Seconds: 5

I have some advice that I would like to add to this advice topic: Advice and help comes in...grab what helps you and use it and hold it near. Ignore what doesn't. The advice or help can come in many forms such as a bump, or encouraging words or harsh military style words or pictures. Most importantly to all of us, stick to the topic or else the forum will get too confusing.
