When you quit did you...........

for 18 år siden 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Did you ever doubt your strength. Were your scared. I've been "quitting" now for 2 days and well haven't quit for an entire 2 days. I am a smoker, ex-smoker and restart smoker. Quit for almost 4 years then started again(stupid reasons that I won't even get in to!). Last time I used Zyban and it was easy for me to quit..however, found out that I'm allergic to it but had enough in my system to help. Now I've been trying the patch..but my skin can't handle it. So I'm doubting if I really want to quit (I know I do but am I lying to myself?). If anyone has suggestions on something else I can use I'd be eternally grateful. OH yea I'm in Canada so our products differ....figures LOL Thanks Sabina

sabinav, Really just wanted to say hi. You are doing the right by quiting. I quit cold turkey. My first 3 days I did not think I could do it either. I just kept on. Like the little engine that could. "I think I can, I think I can. I can, I can, I can." You are here, You can do it. Well, and you know - many successful quits began cold turkey. Congratulations on your quit! Zyban just keeps your dopamine levels higher while you quit... and if you didn't continue to take it, then your body had to adjust all on it's own anyhow. You can accomplish the same thing with regular rewards, and possitive self talks. Hi - I underwent laser therapy and never looked back. I think that and this site haver REALLY helped. I've never tried to quit before so I dont have anything to compare it to except what I read on this site. I certainly do get occasional cravings but they are fleeting. I can control them very well by talking myself through - mind over matter. The first day, the fifth day and the 28 day were tough for me but I think the latter was because I had exposed myself for the first time to my smoking friends in an enclosed space. Part of my laser therapy also involved retraining my sense of smell. I had to have everything detailed - house, car, clothes. I use four dryer sheets, have glad plug in every room. The idea is to make cigarette smoke repulsive to you and I'd say its reall working. So there's some ideas that might be alternatives for zyban - plus you dont have to worry about insomnia or any other associated side effects... Hi Sabina :) great advice givin here by Casey and Hummingbird... I was scared to quit, thats why it took so long to quit. I used nicotine gum and quit that in the first week and went cold turkey. The reason was the gum did not make me feel any better, so why prolong it. You do feel much better between the first and second week of your quit. You can do it, no doubt about it :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,548 Amount Saved: $675.25 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 10 Mins: 46 Seconds: 38

Sabinav, Don't be scared, be proud!! Your 2 days are a huge achievement, a much bigger achievement than my last 2 days. When you're feeling weak, rememeber how hard you've worked to get this far. You can't let that go. It simply isn't worth going back to smoking. I've just been walking down my street. Saw a women smoking. She just looked s miserable. It's the first time I've thought about smoking all day (but NO WAY am I going to smoke again) One day at a time Sabinav - you can feel like I do now. all the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 187 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,623 Amount Saved: 1402.5 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 5 Mins: 54 Seconds: 55

I think most of us here are 'restart' ex & ex ex smokers. Keep it simple..... You either want to smoke or you don't. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Doubt the strength and the ability to quit. Oh yes! For a very long time. Solution... One step at a time, five minutes at a time using NOPE Not One Puff Ever. I kept telling myself that as long as I didn't light that next cigarette, I had it made. There are two phrases I used in the beginning. 1. When I smoked, I wanted a cigarette all the time; now that I don't, I only want one some of the time. 2. Every day is one day closer to never feeling this way again. You can do it. Deep breaths and one day at a time. Hi Sabinav, I believe there are alternatives to Zyban. Speak with your doc. If you really, truly want to quit, and the patches, meds and other helps don't work for you, you might just want to go cold turkey. Quite a few of the members here have done so. Check out all the tools on site and READ lots and lots of posts. You can beat this addiction! Not cravin', never cavin'.
