When I get a pretty bad crave, I make a deal with my inner junkie. I give myself permission to smoke only after I have checked in with someone here at SSC.
Guess what happens? Either I get online and somebody talks sense into me, or it takes me so long to get to it that the junkie in me gives up and slinks away.
The other things I do include thinking about how doggone hard it was to get to this point and really, really not wanting to go through it again; remembering, as fully as I can, the last cigarette I smoked, which made me feel sick and weak and disgusted with myself and ashamed and like I wanted to throw up; and imagining a fully smoke-free me, strong enough to pull trees up by the roots, handsome enough to make the young girls swoon.
