I point I would also like to make is the ease with which we can misunderstand the true meaning of the written word. As some of you older (keep them feathers down Lady!!!) quitters know, I am a management trainer. When we teach communication skills, we often refer to research on how we receive the message.
Depending on the study that you refer to, the content or actual words used are worth 10%, the way that the words are spoken are worth 40% and the body language or non verbal communication is worth a whopping 50%.
So, without the tone, inflection, pauses and signals, we can easily get it wrong.
One other thing for the guys! the girls are much more receptive to the non verbal signals than us men. So..........if you are going to be less than truthful, do it by text or down the phone!
