I find that I can not actually plan to quit smoking. My planning it never works. I just get tired of it and say that's it. Seems like I read something in the newspaper about that this past year. The accpeted line had been to tell and help people to plan it, but researchers found that quitting smoking works just as help if it happens on the spur of the moment. Did anyone else here not plan out their quit at first, especially the date?

Hi, I planned my quit day for the day I actually did quit. But I was wakened that fine Sunday morning by some twatt a couple of doors down doing some DIY on his roof. At about 7.45am. On a SUNDAY????!!!!!! I am not good in the mornings at the best of times - and normally reached straight for the fags.
That morning, I woke up really, really cranky and thought I wouldn't POSSIBLY quit in those circumstances. I fumed and got pissed off for a while as I lay there. Then gave myself permission to go out and buy cigs since I was feeling so cranky already! The giving myself permission NOT to quit that particular day seemed to make it easier to stick with my resolve. And I just went for it anyway.

I have planned out my quit and I have come to an end of a pack or almost gone and quit. I have told people and I have kept quite. This time I planned on quitting the 15th and the first came around and I had just enough cigs to get me through on the 31st, so I said why not. If I had waited until the 15th I may not have quit. I am really hoping that this is the final one for me. Hope this is not to confusing.
bgh, I woke up one morning and said "I quit." It was a tough road, but I did it. I had times in the past where I tried to set a date, but that just never worked for me. My counselor said she thought the two sides of my brain got together while I was asleep and decided it was time.
