I have finally picked my start date and have seen my Dr. She gave me welbuterin (spelling LOL) to help with my withdrawl symptoms. She wants me to take it for two weeks before I actually stop smoking all together. I am very excited about this because I will be so much healthier and will beable to keep up with my kids.
My start date will be July 5th. I just hope that I can make it through that first week. I feel that will be the hardest part for me. But I am determined that this is it and it will be and I will have things ready to do when those withdrawl symptoms want to creep up on me. The kids are excited and are ready to help me get through this too.
If there is any helpful advice for that first day or through the first week please help. I am kind of scared about lashing out at the kids because of the cravings. I want this to be successful but I don't want my kids to get the brunt of a symptom I am having by possibly snapping at them for no reason. I am a single mom now and when I have quit times before, I was able to get that away time before that happened. Any suggestions, Please help. I want to be prepared. Mama
Welcome to SSC mstngmama,
Congrats on setting your quit date. Between now and then I would work through the Quit Program Tools to the left of your screen ... it will help 'prepare' you for your quit date. If you are concerned about your first day, stay on here all day if need be. Maybe get a babysitter for part of that day if you can. I know what you mean about not want to snap at your kids ... I felt that way too. I just tried to remember that it is not their fault I am addicted to a drug.
Stay close ... you'll make it through your first week and many more after that. Believe. Believe in yourself.

Hi mstngmama,
Glad to hear your prepped and ready to go. You can try deep breathing, walking away for 30 seconds.
Also don't forget to reward and spoil yourself during those first few weeks.
Good luck, check back soon.
Danielle
