Some good advice there Danielle. Thank you. Its funny that you say it takes 2-3 weeks to take affect, as I didnt start taking them until the day i quit, as I hadnt planned on quitting that day. So I guess that i did a few weeks cold turkey. Its not too bad now, I just want to be prepared for going to Cyprus as I would be so upset if i lost my quit then. I am always SO SO busy during the summer months its like non stop and every single weekend i am in smoker zones. This weekend it is a chill out with a tent and camping.. so shouldnt be too bad. Next weekend, its a music festival, again with people that will be smoking - again another test. I cut my prescription to half as it was too strong for me (from 300 ml to 150 ml) But to be honest i now forget to take it (I still have some left as they were prescribing double the amount and i took half). I havent taken a pill since last week, and then it was random. Yeah its been ok. only time i wish i had them on me, was last weekend, but that was because i was around smokers who were smoking their heads off all night and all the next day. I still didnt smoke though. I am doing ok, and not being on Zyban = I am not wanting to smoke all day every day. I admit I have kept some though, just in case I had a funny day (well to be honest i am keeping them, just in case for when I go to Cyprus end of Aug). I might not take them, there again I might.. I dont know will see how i feel. Right now i feel fine without them. Thats my experience. but its a good question and one that i wondered about too. Hi Kerin, I quit using Zyban too, and just ran out of pills 2 days ago. I was really nervous and called my doctor to ask if I could have another month, but he never filled the script. I decided to have faith in myself and go without. So far I'm not noticing a difference, but I had a dream last nite that I went back to smoking. What a relief when I woke up. I really do think I'll be fine without it. I know what you mean about people so far along in their quit. We can never let our guard down. We have to just keep saying "I don't smoke". Thank you all so much for your responses. I was just worried about having withdrawl from Zyban or that our stronger cravings will come back. But you are right,I do need to take one day at a time. I have a habit of getting to far ahead of myself. Thanks for reminding me to live in today. This is the 8th day of being smoke free for my husband and I. We are using Zyban and doing great. I as wondering if anyone here has used this and knows what happens when we finish the medication? We were told to take the medication for 7 weeks. Also its scary when I read someones quitmeter and it says they quit 365 days and up. Are they just giving support,or will I really want a cig that long afte I have quit?
will I really want a cig that long afte I have quit?
That was a major concern of mine as well. And honestly, no one can answer that question but you. I can tell you my experience. We all can. But your experience is going to be up to you. I have no where close to 365 days and I do not want a cigarette at all. I am going through all kinds of hell in my life right now and I STILL DO NOT WANT A CIGARETTE. Do you know why? Because I KNOW that is isn't going to do one single positive thing for me. Not one. I am still here posting because my body and my life due to my quitting is still going through changes and I want to surround myself with people that know what I am going through. If I need to ask questions as to what is happening to me, I know there are people here that will have first hand experience. I am also here to help others decide to quit and stay quit if I can. It makes me so very happy to 'pay it forward'. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Niks, Time to develop a new coping mechanism! Many quitters have found regular gum, candy or a straw helpful to have with them when around other smokers. Whether or not you keep the Zyban is up to you but you should know it's not like the nicotine gum. Zyban takes 2-3 weeks to take full effect. Maybe at this stage, the gum for strong cravings would be a better option for you? If you decide you'd like to stay on Zyban, try associating taking your pill with another activity. Ex: Put the pack of pills next to your toothbrush, tape it to the fridge or set an alarm. The choice is yours... Danielle ______________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi, Smoked out. I quit using Wellbutrin/Zyban. I went for 30 days and stopped taking it on my own because I had some side effects I didn't like. I cut my doseage in half for a week, then quit that. Had no effects from stopping it other than I felt better. Some have experienced craves. Everyone is different, so it's hard to say just what you'll experience. I have not had a crave for a cig since a period of difficulty around 6 months. Before that were three days just before 100 days. The reason I stick around is not for me, but for you. :) Keep up the good quit, Kerin.
