Having just 1 vs N.O.P.E

THANK YOU all for the warm welcomes and welcome backs. Cheryl, and to anyone else wanting just 1... my relapse story is.. 18 months into my quit,I was at a bar celebrating a friends birthday. I dont drink but felt obligated to go. It was the 1st time I was around smokers for any length of time. there was a cigarette rep handing out 2 free pks of cigs. I signed up with full intention of giving them away. I had NO desire whatsoever to keep them. I put them in my pocket and went back to my friends. When I got home I noticed how my clothes and hair actually reeked from smoke. I emptied my jacket pocket before throwing it in the laundry. In my pocket were the 2 pks. It was my 1st time actually holding a pack. I got real nervous. I live alone so no one would know if I had "just 1". Heck I was quit for 18 months its not gonna hurt.I wrestled with the thoughts for over an hour. Then I thought ok, just 1. well you know the rest.. sad to say that was almost 2 yrs ago. I joined this site on 8/9/2003. if you look on the anniversary celebrations page I was there as Brewcityshorty. Had it not been for the SCC I would have never had 18 months. I used everything this site offered and the support here goes beyond words. I jus let my guard down and FOOLISHLY forgot one of the most important thing here.... N.O.P.E. btw the 1st one tastes NOTHING like we remember. Its awful, makes you wanna throw up and cough. I felt the freedom and it was awesome!! Wishing us all the success in the world. We CAN do it. I remember when I first started smoking. I was 13. I didn't like it, but did it anyway to be 'cool'. Smoking made me very dizzy and nauseous. If you have to make yourself like something ... face it ... you don't like it. You know how some will say that you have to acquire a taste for something ... baloney I say! Welcome back Roxy! It is great to meet you. I look forward to celebrating your successes with you!
