How did you find this site? By pure chance, doing a search and then making a random post - it was not thought about - just a weird off the cuff thing to do How long did you smoke? 22.5 years How many quits? This I dont know. Up until last Sept, I had only quit twice, once for 7 weeks one for 3 months, since last sept, I have probably quit another 5 or 6 times, but for never more than 3 weeks at a time How do you feel? I feel ok, I feel kind of sad about other things in my life. I feel sad that the nicodemon still has the power to try to trip me up... but i am happy i am winning. I am beginning to see a new me. How confident are you that this is THE quit, the end-quit, the quit eternal? YES, this quit is different because i come here. Thats the difference for me. I just needed a support network. I couldnt give up, giving up, as too many people have given their energy in responding to my posts. I appreciate that, and would not throw that enerrgy or effort away. What have you felt the need to change about the REST of your life since quitting? I dont smoke everywhere anymore. My car,my house, everywhere. My life is not determined by smoking any more. No longer is anything on 'hold' while i was smoking... I am trying to get fitter, I am respecting my body, and improving my image. I am trying to move house. What made you start thinking about quitting? I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, 3 years ago, and was told that if I didnt stop smoking, most likely it would kill me. I was also getting short of breath, and I hated the way that my skin was. What method are you using to quit? Zyban - but most importantly the support of this board. How did you find this site? I also searched for it. How long did you smoke? 35 years, two packs a day How many quits? More than could be counted by the most powerfull super computer How do you feel? Good most of the time, Horrible some of the time How confident are you that this is THE quit, the end-quit, the quit eternal? Yes, it has to be. What have you felt the need to change about the REST of your life since quitting? I need to get my puppy trained!! I had made major changes (lost weight, working out) before I quit smoking and I think that is what made me want to quit. It didn't seem to fit into my lifestyle anymore. I would like to add a couple of questions to the survey. What made you start thinking about quitting? It didn't fit into my new healthy lifestyle. Also, my Mom was diagnosed with COPD. What method are you using to quit? Patches and Wellbutrin Love, Mama My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 655 Amount Saved: $91.2 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 38 Seconds: 14

Great thread carpepax! How did you find this site? My roommate at the time and I were debating nicotine addiction and she searched the web to find some sites to back up her theories and emailed them to me. Through that search, I found the SSC and it has made all the difference in my quit! How long did you smoke? Off and on for almost 11 years. How many quits? More than I could count. I am guessing at least 30, but probably more like 45 or 50. How do you feel? GREAT!!! I don't cough near as much. I can breathe easier. It's wonderful! How confident are you that this is THE quit, the end-quit, the quit eternal? Beyond sure. I've screwed up enough times to know that I will NEVER do it again. What have you felt the need to change about the REST of your life since quitting? A lot of changes have happened in my life since quitting, but I didn't make them BECAUSE I quit. I lost my job in July of last year, which gave me the opportunity to move to be closer to my family, go back to school and start my life all over as a non-smoker. I'm now in school to become a teacher. I am also way more physically active now with swimming and other activities. My whole outlook on life has changed. I didn't just quit smoking... I changed every single aspect of my life... my job, my friends, my city and my life. I'm not the same as I was in any way. What made you start thinking about quitting? My work kept sending me to the doctor because I coughed so much all day, everyday. Nothing worked and I knew that I had to quit. So, I was going to quit for 3 weeks to get rid of my cough and then smoke again... but then I found the SSC and all of that changed. What method are you using to quit? I used Smoke Away for the first 5 days, but it gave me horrible night mares, so I quit using it. I love this thread! Thanks for starting it Carpepax! Crave the Quit! This is another opportunity for any who wish to share their story of addiction and past quit attempts. Valuable insight can be taken from some of the stories of addiction, weekness and struggle. Write free-form or take the survey! :| *Add your own questions at will* How did you find this site? I got fed up with smoking and actively sought smoking cessation help and info online. How long did you smoke? 15.5 yrs. How many quits? This is 3 and I think it't the charm. How do you feel? Very good. Breathing is better, energy is up, tennis will help me shed my extra 20%! How confident are you that this is THE quit, the end-quit, the quit eternal? YES, although I still crave sometimes, this is IT. I feel it. I know it. I am it. What have you felt the need to change about the REST of your life since quitting? Very little. I haven't smoked indoors or in a car in over 6 years, so nothing smells. I go out and hang out by the railing outside my apartment and, whereas I used to spend about 5-7 minutes smoking a cig, I'm done looking at the scenery in about a minute or two. Nothing forcing me to do anything for longer than I want to. Hi, and thanks for contributing to the thread. I'm going to bump by answering the two questions added by Mama. What made you start thinking about quitting? I was very depressed over the control it had over my life, my time and my money. I was challenged to quit by how difficult it was/is. What method are you using to quit? Wellbutrin and tennis therapy. :p May the Quit be with us all. -- carpepax P.S. I board the cruise ship TONIGHT! My next sunrise will be over the shimmering blue, on the top deck, over breakfast and tequilla shots. Enough to get me good and relaxed before my hour long massage in the ship's spa. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 397 Amount Saved: $497.35 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 22 Mins: 18 Seconds: 15
