Day Four

for 18 år siden 0 2631 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey Savvy! Good luck with your quit. My quit started last week but ended on Saturday....started again this Monday. I kinda knew I was gonna blow it the first week but I thought I'd just one of my failures out the way (is that STRANGE thinking or what). Anyway, last week was the beginning of my journey to quit for good, this Monday was my quit date. I know this is a learning process and each day without smoking is a step toward freedom. My partner quit for a year and started back again. I didn't even try once. This time I'm quitting and he's smoking (but he's taking it outside which makes it easier) I know he'll quit when he's ready. It takes all my energy just to focus on my quit right now. Good luck...sounds like you are working hard and doing great with your own quit! Hi Everyone......:) Day 4....................YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Partner and I have had a few rocky moments but fortunately love triumphed before we tore each other apart......:) Patches....and lozenges have become my very best friends....without them I have no idea how I would be doing this. But doing it I am....everything tastes better....looks better.....smells better. In short the world looks pretty flamin grooooovy. Amazing how you realise that your world was covered in a cloud before you gave up the little suckers. For me its more than just a cloud of smoke its a cloud of 'vision'. The little suckers really stop you focusing on other stuff, because your to flamin busy focusing on them. Anyway enough of my rambling.........got a smoke free life to plunge into. Thanks everyone for just being here to listen to my odd ramble. Its sooooo nice to have a base to touch on this journey.....thanks. Savvvy

My quit meter is sick. It isn't showing up in my post even though I ticked the preference.......is there something I have not done....perhaps??

Thankyou sooooo much everyone. I have just spoken to my partner and she has confessed to having had a cigarette this morning. I said to her that doing that has put her back to the start as she had broken her quit and she become annoyed with me. Was I to harsh I wonder. She said I was trying to take away her motivation. I told her that a cigarette is a cigarette and it represents resuming smoking. Ooooooohhhhhh well I guess this is just one of the many trials I will have to face on this journey. I hope I wasn't to harsh.......:( I just have to keep going and help her to start again afresh tomorrow. Thank you Danielle for the info re my quit meter. You where right I had not set it properly, but have now done that. Of course here in my part of the world it is my day 4 but my meter is saying day three because of the time difference. Ok back to my smoke free life........I am actually breathing a lot better today. I was in the car this morning and started singing and realised that my ability to sing has improved already....... THanks again all for your very kind and supportive words of encouragement. Hi Marie and Free......:) My partner has said that she believes starting again from scratch is a 'negative' approach and de-motivating. Personally I think she is trying to avoid the 'consequences' of her actions. In other words there is a price to pay. I think she will work it out eventually, but certainly not in the near future. Yes....I will encourage her to just keep going as best she can. Its interesting when I listen to her speak that I hear the voice of the 'addiction' speaking. Nicotine is a truely incidious drug. The thing that does concern me though is the she is using patches and getting the nicotine and still goes for the cigarette.....I am presuming that this is the habit taking over. Thanks sooooo much for your support Savvvy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 76 Amount Saved: $24 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 43 Seconds: 58

Quit is quit. Smoking is smoking. Just help her to see that and encourage her to get right back on the quit wagon and not to light another one. Savvvy, Please advise your partner that smoking while on the patch is dangerous as it can cause nicotine overdose which is potentially life threathening. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team
