I was reading this topic and just thought that I might put my story in. I have dealt with depression and a little bit of anxiety for a few years now. I am 22 and last Deecember I started having SEVERE panic attacks. I really did think that I was going crazy. I had all the symptoms and even landed in the emergency room b/c I was unable to eat or drink due to the anxiety and attacks...they were constant. I went to a psychiatrist and his advice was "You are going through a lt of stress so here is some Ativan." I walked out of there with a prescription for 50 Ativan after my first visit. So, I took them for a few days but knew that I could not rely on these things foreve. I went to my family doctor and he immediately prescribed me Paxil. Now, I know that many people are against Paxil but I must say that it saved me. Of course, it was a long road...I had to increase my dosage a few times and add Wellbutrin before I got the right combination, but I got it. You know, the truth is that I still get really stressed out sometimes and I still refuse to get on a plane but I am definitely back on the right track. Also, look at you eating habits, kick out caffeine for God's sake! Also, fish oil supplements are great. I never eatc fish and there is extensive research about the effect that this can have on you body. Lastly, make sure you are getting enough Vitamin B. I take a Vit. B complex and an extra 200 mg od B6. Anyway, these are the things that I found that help. In conclusion, do not forget to do the work yourself. You have to push yourself too, meds do not work miracles. If you are scared of drivi
