Thank you Josie (Dah) I din't even think of looking it up, New-york is non-smoking, I'm so happy, that's a load off, because it's the hardest time for me sitting at a restaurant. so I don't think I could have done it sitting across a smoker. The ban came in effect in March. I'm still wondering why I didn't look it up, maybe I just wanted to share.... :)Marie

Hi , I didn't know where to post this, so here goes, I would like to know if New-York city has the by-law no smoking in restaurants etc. This is going to be my 3 month treat 3 days shopping in NY city. I am going with my best friend who is a smoker and I will be just coming off the patch, I know I am not taking this one day at a time as I always preach....but I want to be prepared I will use the appropriate coping mechanisms. I haven.t been to New-York for many years and this is such a treat. Why go with a smoker you ask? Because she has been my best friend for 30 years and when I mentioned it her eyes lit up I just couln't refuse. So if I am prepared I will adjust (right?) let me know ok :)Marie

hi marie, enjoy new york as a non-smoker! the laws have definitely made it easier for me to us new yorkers to quit and i'm thankful they were passed.
this is an amazing city and you really couldn't ask for more distractions, they're everywhere, always something to do, the time will fly. make sure you buy lots of amazing things, reward yourself well!

Hi Marie,
In NYC you can't smoke in restaurants, bars, public places, buildings, etc. The only places you can smoke are outside or in your own home. Hope it helps and have a great time in New York.

Marie,
You can try any search engine and use the key words you mentioned. We are not allowed to post links or other sites within the SSC Group.
There may be a member or two that can help you out if they are from New York as well :) Another option is the SSC IM Messenger to help you connect with other members.
Looks like you are well prepared for your trip! This is a great way to validate your quit!
Keep Strong,
Josie
