MistyMoon, kids just expect things from their parents that's normal. You're the provider he's the kid. I'm sure he's very happy about all you did for his BD, but he won't tell you now , he'll tell you when he's 30 that,s what my kids do , they tell me about all the great memories of their childhood and how spoiled they were, that's what it's all about. So maybe you need some alone time with him to talk things over. Come on chin up things will get better. Here's some junkie thinking coming your way---- The other day, right before I decided to make another go at this thing, I was searching the house for a smoke. Perhaps there was a year old cig under the couch cushion along with stale M & M's and popcorn... Nothing. I have a 16 year old also. Surely my 16 year old has a cig or two hidden in his room... I go search. He comes in and catches me, asks what I am doing. Searching for cigarettes. He laughs, says he has none. I then find a can of dip under a blanket. I say, "You s#*t!". He now expects anger at the dip. And, as any good junkie mom responds......"Why don't you smoke like all the [i]normal[/i] kids???!!! He is then angry and threatens to tell my husband...the quitter...again, as the good junkie mother, I tell him that if he tells on me, I will tell on him. We have struck a deal....I am sooooo embarrased to admit that I did this! Misty....are you sure he isn't smoking? One thing I have learned, that when a teenager longs to go to a house that you question, there is a reason. Believe it or not there are adults that allow and encourage kids to defy what their parents stand for. LOOK AT ME.......your son can dip at my house as long as he didn't tell on my closet smoking!!!! :blush: NOT ANYMORE!!! BACK ON THE WAGON AGAIN!! :)

MistyMoon, do not spend one single second worrying about their gossip session. It matters not what they think of you. What matters is what YOU think of YOU. Gossiping is just like smoking and worrying ... a waste of time. So, if whatever you are thinking about you is counter productive to your well being ... get rid of it. Your last couple of posts ^^^ sounded like very healthy, assertive, loving behavior. Stand tall and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Your doing great. MistyMoon, Your emotions may run high now and then but it's completely normal. You are not crazy, your a brave woman who dares to become the best version of herself. Bravo! You are being assertive and communicating your needs to your family, be proud of that also! Would you have done that in the past? Or would you have just picked up a cigarette instead when stress levels ran high? Reward yourself for handling this situation so well. Your making great progress! Keep going! We are proud of you! Aww, he'll come around. I hollered at my kids when I quit smoking, but I think they needed it. It was too easy for me to go outside and have a cigarette instead of following up on whatever I had just asked them to do. My emotions have leveled off quite a bit in the past 300+ days. The kids know what is expected of them. If they disobey, they're just plain grounded. Don't do your son's chores for him, though. STRIKE! If he's supposed to do dishes and he doesn't, set a dirty plate in front of him for dinner. Leave his dirty laundry on the floor until he either does it himself or has to wear dirty clothes. If he takes off, call him or go get him. No yelling, just calm and collected. "Hi, honey. I need you to come home right now." Misty, Stand your ground and know that you are the parent and they have to respect your rules. Perhaps he could mention something he wants to do with you and you could do it together. Misty, Remember this is your quit and let no-one walk over it! You may need to have a talk with just you and your son. He is old enough to understand that you are a person too and what this quit is putting you through. Spent some quality time with him and show him the real you and the mom he knows :) Take some you time and come up with a plan to be strong and use your tough love. No-one should hold this quit against you! You are doing a great thing and you will live longer and prosper. We need our moms, whether we think so or not!
