Windy, I think Lady makes a good point "You just never know who you might help. Be proud of your miracle Windy!" Look at how much you have helped me :p :p I share when I can, if someone ask me. I not real sure how my friend are taking it. They have seen me quit so many times, but they are proud of the fact that I keep trying.

I nodded my head at a lot of these - however, please keep in mind it's never a good idea to make your hairdresser angry.... :8o:

Thank God it's Friday people. And NO SMOKING! Spread the power of knowledge to all smokers out there - maybe one of them will come join us!

Windy,
I tell everyone about quitting smoking. If they are smokers or not. I constantly tell them how I didn't think I could do it and how horribly addicted I was. I smoked for over 23 years and it controlled my every action.
I tell of this site and the wonders that quitting has brough to my life. It's like giving a testimony. I speak once a semester to a Senior level class of physcologist about addiction in their Crisis Intervention class. The professor for that class was my biggest supporter when I quit.
I spoke for the first time in August. I was talking with the instructor the other day and she informed me that 4 people had quit smoking as a direct result of my coming to the class.
There are tons of people that come here that I tell all about the experience of quitting. For me it a miracle that I quit. I share that miracle with all I can. You just never know who you might help. Be proud of your miracle Windy! :)

We as smokers didnt appreciate being preached to so I don't think we should do it to others. But, explaining that you didn't think you could do it and telling someone about the patch or this site, and then letting them make the decision is different I think. I tell many people about how I quit but I try to do it in a nice way and I always tell them when your ready you will know. Preaching and badgering will not get you anywhere, when my husband bugged me I went and smoked even more lol.
I think you did well by not preaching to her and it sounds as if you where thinking of her feelings as well and I think thats important.

There are a few people like that at work here with me. I walk past them outside and they feel a need to say they are thinking about quitting or they are going to try to quit soon etc.
I just say to them and this is pretty much verbatim...
It's your life, your an adult you don't answer to me. If smoking is right for you - go for it. You don't need to justify your habit to me, I'm good with it.
Then I smile. What else is there to say?

Windy,
You did the right thing and you should be proud that you are trying to help others. In time she may remember what you said and take your advise. Remember, she will quit in her own time.
You mean well and you are doing a great job, keep it up :)
Keep Strong,
Josie
