Finding your Strength to Beat this Addiction!!!

I'm sorry I haven't been on as much lately to the SSC, but the Holidays were very busy for me and I have been on vacation....but here I am checking in, completely smoke free and loving life. I love seeing all the new quitter's, and hopefully will have time later today to say hi to some of you. I'm over 8 weeks quit smoking now, and feel unbelievable. The journey hasn't been easy. There have been some extremely low moments and moments of utter dispair, but I made it through and to all the new quitter's you can do this too. Just believe in yourself and dig deep for every ounce of strength you can muster up to get you through day by day, one trigger and crave at a time. That is the only way to beat this addiction. Use whatever tools you have at your disposal, and hit this addiction with everything you have...that is the way you are successful. One of the big reasons I have been smoke free for more than 8 weeks is pure strength and conviction. This website helps immensley...but this website is not with us when we are driving pass the gas station full of packs of smokes or when we are at a gathering, and someone lights up....those are the times we make our own choice...are we giving in and having "JUST ONE" (which never happens), or are we strong enough to just say NOPE!!!! Just say NOPE..today...tonight...tomorrow...next week. A smoke free life is wonderful!!!! Thank you everyone who has been there for me. Without you, I wouldn't have found my strength!! Cheermom, What a great idea to come up with new reasons to stay quit (but don't forget the original ones). My hubby was the one that really pushed increasing my patch for the one day (New Years Eve). I had a couple of 21mg patches left over from my previous attempt to quit in the spring, so I slapped one on. The next day, I went back down to the 14mg with no problem (but I was ready to deal with any withdrawl symptoms if I needed to). I panicked a little this morning....I was out of 14mg patches and only had one 21mg available...I'm was sapposed to drop down to 7mg today, but forgot to buy them...so tomorrow is 7mg for me and I'll just deal with the withdrawls (I have my last 21mg on today). I'm sticking to my plan to be done with the patches in two weeks. Festivities are over now...no more parties or worries about intense social trigger's (I'm sooooooooooo excited!!!). We have to be stronger than the desire to inhale those terrible cigs into our fragile lungs. It's not worth it cheermom....they are not our friends and just want to hook us again, your doing great...keep fighting to stay smoke free. We are going to win this battle. Very proud of you and so very true what you just said. That is what I'm trying to overcome, the driving by the gas station filled with the brand of smokes I smoked for 20 years. It has to be in us when we can't get onto the SSC site. I'm fighting nic every minute for the past 5 days and I will beat this just like everyone else here is trying to accomplish. I'm so glad you are doing better and taking your time stepping down off the patches. That was a smart move to go back up to a higher mg on New Years Eve. VERY SMART! That must mean you want your quit more than smoking. Me, I am coming up with new reasons of why I want to stay quit as the ones I wrote before I quit aren't enough anymore. Good luck all Kim My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 211 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,285 Amount Saved: $854.55 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 15 Mins: 10 Seconds: 14
