I have never spent so much time reading about how terrible and far-reaching nicotine addiction really is as I have in the past 6 days.
Philip Morris in an internal report likens nicotine to COCAINE in both its composition and its effects on the brain. The report states that nicotine has a "similar, organic chemical" to the drugs cocaine, morphine, quinine and atropine, and that "while each of these substances can be used to affect human physiology, nicotine has a particularly broad range of influence."
They even opposed legislation in the US that would have allowed the FDA to regulate the tobacco industry.
Now, I don't know about anyone else but I seethe when I read stuff like that. It strengthens my resolve to refuse to ruin my health first and foremost, but also to refused to allow a corporation to profit from my poor health.
I can't even imagine the type of person it takes to run a company that profits off the misery of others. I wonder how it feels for tobacco executives to discuss how to better market their "product". How could you look into the eyes of your children knowing what you do? I liken their jobs to that of thugs and drug dealers. They profit off the misery and weakness of others.
To participate in the deaths of millions of people, the greed must be so strong. Their addiction to money must be as strong as my addiction to their product USED to be.
