As you mostly know I have been quit some months now. Quit 8th Aug Final NRT Dec 26th, I did the full patch programme(15,10,5) and followed it with the gum (about 2 mg twice a day) The first few days without the gum I was FINE I felt great and thought this is it! After a few days the withdrawal hit me again and it was almost like Hell and Heck weeks over again. The good news is I knew what to expect and pulled through.. I am only just about through it now. So advice if you can do it without NRT great! Use it as a last resort is my advice. I post this because I see so many newbies wnting to use various products as a crutch .....It is temporary relief... Hope this helps someone! no aid is going to work unless you are committed and determined....cravings vary from one person to another...I was one of those people who could NOT cut back...and I would rip your face off if denied my smokes......I used patches...4 weeks for each step....at the beginning I had cravings....but I feel sure they were nothing like cold turkey cravings....at the first stepdown I had soem cravings....they passed as I adjusted to the lower nicotine dosage....when I went "naked", I never felt a thing. just freedom I still stand in amazement that I am quit. I also credit NRT for my success. do what keeps you from smoking. Phil, Thanks for sharing your experience. It will vary for many, but every little bit of information is key to helping others along. Thanks, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
