John W, nice to meeting yer acquiantance. Wow, 40 years. I'm 30 years myself. Motivation. That is what I mean, thank you for explaining me! And inspiration. I can't add to your post, you said it yourself. To Peter. Ah Monica, I'm sooooooooo sorry! I'm glad you posted about him though. It's good to acknowledge these feelings. I know the burden you carry. I'm sooooo happy that he knew you quit before he died. Monica, you should be so darn proud of yourself. I didn't quit when my Dad died of colon cancer, though he asked me too. I watched my Dad die as well, as he asked to die at home. You would think that would make me quit, it didn't. So I am proud of you for your Dad. You must stay smoke free in his memory. I'm doing it for a multitude of reasons too. Here's to your Dad. Big hugs Monica. Peter Jennings, a handsome man, international reporter, quit smoking at age 40 or something like that and took it up the day of 9/11. He died of lung cancer in 2006. He had stopped smoking for over 20 years. I'm going to find a picture of him and hang it on my fridge. For some reason, though my own Aunt died of lung cancer, I think that because he stopped for so long and then started back on those evil cigarettes, I can't get him out of my head today. Still at work, using my boss' time to check in and say hello. I had one bad, bad moment, but I got through it and knowing that I'll see a TWO tomorow is keeping me going. Can anyone relate or can you share someone who you think about for the QUIT? Ah, stickin, he took it back up though. And many die of lung cancer who never smoked. He's just been on my mind. I'm not sad or anything and didn't want to bring anyone down. He's just someone I can't get out of my head today, it's strange. Oh my gosh Luna, you've touched me on so many levels. Wow, I'm sorry Ann passed away. I just quoted you to Summer on the introduction board! I'm from Queens! I've eaten Greek there though. Ann sounds like a lovely woman, may she Rest in Peace. You sound so eloquent and write beautifully. I've been wanting to see Women in Menopause. Although I'm only 40 minutes away from Groud Zero, I can't go. Ok, that was a babble back to you but I can never thank you enough for sharing. I'm going to make it, I just know it this time. And I can't thank you and this site enough for listening and being there at 3:42 am my time. Nite! Freedom, I'm sorry about your loss. I hope I never get the images of lung cancer out of my head. That is a huge motivator, and as far as Peter Jennings, that is a great loss, smoking kills, plain and simple! Stay strong, your doing great!!! kaiti My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,294 Amount Saved: $319 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 7 Mins: 33 Seconds: 5

Hi Marie, I think about my dad. He died in early December'06, he was 70 yrs old. He was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 1/2 yrs ago, had more than 1/2 a lung removed and when he arrived home after spending close to 3 weeks in hospital he sat down and lit up. I told him that he was given a 2nd lease on life but being the stubborn man that he was he said 'it's my life and it's not effecting anyone...' Then back in November he went into hospital with pneumonia, copd, they ran a barrage of tests and was told at the beginning of December that he had days, maybe weeks, perhaps a month to live. Marie, I'm still grieving the horrible way he died. It left a huge void in my life when he passed -- he still walks with me everyday.. And he was proud of me when I quit and that's what keeps me going. And I cry almost every day because I miss him so very much. Sorry Marie to hear about your dad. Many of us have many many different reasons to quit and no matter what the reasons are it's staying quit and being strong throughout it forever! Stay strong sweetie...
