My dear parrot lady: It won't help you to go to the store and buy more cigarettes, but you know that. I went to an AA function last night too, and it was hard not to start craving a smoke and the kinship that goes with it: standing around outside with my fellow pariahs. But I didn't, and I am sooo glad. I just reminded myself how I fell for that cheap perfume on many other occasions, and so retarded my progress again and again. So last night I just didn't go there, and so today I have 17 days, instead of 0. Just remember: the craving isn't you; mentally step aside from that desire, look at it with curiosity, take some nice slow deep breaths, and stay with us!
